I don't know what made me think of this last night while I was driving. I am sure we all have our little sayings for going through the rough patches in our lives. Here are mine:

God never gives you more than you can handle - even though it seems like he is pushing you to your limits at times.

Things happen for a reason, we may not know or ever figure out what the reason is but there is a reason.

Noone ever said life would be easy.

Learn to be grateful for the little things in your life.

Family and friends are important, who would we be without them?

I drive Jimmy crazy with the "grateful". Like when the transmission went in our 1st truck, I told him we should be "grateful" we had the money to get it replaced. He wasn't very grateful!!!

That's funny about the grateful bit. I wonder about the ppl who say Thank God to everything. Like... Thank God we could afford a new engine. Who do they curse when the engine goes in the first place? LOL

Regardless of what happens and whats going wrong, I try to remind myself of all I have to be grateful for and how trivial my problems really are when compared to others. Thinking of parents of disabled or diseased children usually puts me in my place.

I agree with you 100% We have had several incidents like you talk about and they ALL could have been worse. We have always been able to be thankful about something. We can look back over our lives and some of our hard times and realize we learned something from that time that made us into better or maybe a little wiser people. We have also found some of those hard times have pushed us into appreciating things we would have taken for granted or else making sure we had a savings account that would cover the problem.

Boy. Anything that involves children and tragedy or just children in general really tug at this dad's heart strings,(yes,even stupid ,sappy,contrived T.V. commercial's), and humble my ego, and remind me of what is truly important. But on the subject of saying's that help or keep you moving forward i like "when god closes a door he always opens a window" and "god can only steer when your vessel is in motion" and as was already touched on "there are reason's that reason can never explain"
