Liar, Cheat, Fool

Am I the only one who has noticed.

There seems to be a lot of people using those phrases on here lately, mostly from newer members and members who post a couple times a month or less.

It must just be a sign of the times, but not that long ago, it would have been a perfect opportunity to open up that can of a** whoop.

May I suggest asking for assistance from those that appear to be running better, rather than saying it "can't be done" just because you have not done it.

Just a thought.

Times are hard for many right now. With that said they are reaching a boiling point, thus is the reality that is being posted.

Attitude, its your own choice. Attitude is how one is viewed in every element of ones life, ever noticed successfull people generally hold a positive one?

It does seem they come in waves. I think some are feeling a pinch because of changes in the business. The ones that are the most critical are the ones that paint themselves as an employee, rather than a business owner. You just can't be a steering wheel holder and think the money or loads will just fall into your lap with no effort.

Times are hard right now I agree, but they have been harder before, and will get harder in the future.

Maybe one should look inward if they are having an unusually hard time. Those that have done due diligence before entering this field of endeavor are at least somewhat properly prepared. Although Bad things can and will happen to good people. (less so if well prepared )

But if you have looked inward and can find no glaring problem I am sure that there are some well seasoned people on this sight that would talk to them in private and try to see if they can offer some suggestions.

Maybe I'm just goofy.

Hey Guys;
Being a Newbie this site and hopefully changing careers from the Medical Field to Expediting, I have been reading this and thinking !!
I know times are tough with loads and waiting, etc..
I do not know how long you guys have been Expediting but this is comming from someone still in the regular work field !
As far as I am concerned, if I earn anything more that $ 900.00 every 2 weeks and do not have to deal with the Political BS of a ##### Supervisor that thinks 50 cent raises every year are good Than I will be very gratefull to be in Expediting !
Please look at what you have !! It isn't really bad !! I am sure you guys are pulling in more than $ 900.00 every 2 weeks , and at least you do not have punch time clocks, etc...
If I cannot earn more than that , than I need to stay working for the V.A. Hospital and dealing with all the B.S.!!!
Anyways...
I am looking forward to the change of career and looking forward to Expediting !!
Enough from my soap box on this !!
Thanks

Hi

Yes I average more than $1800.00 a month over the course of 12 months but I have months that I don't make $1800.00.For me its either feast or famine from one month to the next.I drive a van.

Is that 900 every two weeks net or gross? How much do you have to pay for health/life insurance? You have to take all of that into play when looking at running your own business. We are doing better than we were in our past lifes, not getting rich, but no longer going broke. We love the freedom from "The Man". It is hard to say what that is worth. Can this work for you? There is a ton to look at. Single? Married? Age? Kids at home? How hard are you willing to work? Going to drive as a team or single? Look long and hard and ask a zillion questions. Many here can help. Just throw out the really really bad and the crazy we made a million in the first month posts. It is far from either. Good luck and email me if you need help.

Also depends a great deal if you can function without "the man" encouraging you often. Many can't. Self discipline, time management is a must in this arena. If you like to lie down often, this might not be for you.

Totally agree things are a bit slow now, but have seen worse and will probably get better soon. Always been that way. Up and down. A lot depends on where you are at what time. One thing I learned a long time ago, you have to be the master of your own ship. Dispatch may promise you something. Don't depend on it.

Hi Again;
It's me, the Newbie !!
Well..
I earn $900.00 every 2 weeks, that is after taxes ( NC State&Fed), 10% going to TSP ( Fed Gov way of a 401K, Health Ins= $65 per pay Period ( Every 2 weeks ), basic life Ins. ( I am single, No kids; well I do have a puppy)
It is not bad but have to deal with Fed Gov Politics, other B.S. too !
I feel trapped like a dead rat there !!! LOL.
Still comes to about $ 450.00 a week..
Cannot pay mortgage and Bills...
Hopeing that Expediting will be much Better !!
Anyways..
I have always wanted to do this but was afraid of Security, etc and fear of change !!
I have only known Medical Field...
Well..
I am looking forward to getting out of There !!
The point I was trying to make is...
We all have our B.S. at our jobs and careers..
We take the good with the bad and do our best !
Like to know what others have done for careers before Expediting !!
And of course, what brings us to Expediting !!
Freedom, Owning your own Buisiness, Traveling, etc...
God..
I cannot wait to get out of the V.A. !!
It is great for you vets, they are wonderfull.. But as an employeee, it stinks big time !!
More of my 2 cents !!

I spent 20 years with the FEDs, they suck to work for. They WILL just throw you away when the use you up. Just do your homework, be sure before you jump and if you do invest your 401k when you leave.

Thank You for the reply !
I am all for the V.A. system for you vets ! All in all they treat you guys pretty well !( Despite all the stuff about Walter Read, etc.. )
But as an employee, that is a different story in itself ! They really do not care for it's employees, I always heard it takes an act of Congress to fire someone...But they find ways !!!
As I said.. Cannot wait to get out and join you guys & gals !!

P.S. Thanks Marda for your wonderfull Private Message to me !!
Will not let you down !!

rmctt2,
It is entirely up to you if you want to expedite or work at the VA,but you need to really check into expedite and be totally ready to commit to the lifestsyle!!Could you go with out a check and for how long, do you have any reserves(I wouldnt think about it unless I had 6mos. of bills paid). Can you adapt your sleep schedule around freight(you may be up all day and offered a load that is a 14hr drive and then have to drive out 100+ miles to a better board positon or lose out 2+ days of possible work).Home time may factor in and you should be prepared to stay out 3 weeks at a time(this means that you will be staying in a truck stop parking lot and showering and eating there.)Vocational lifestyle habits errr social life(you are on call 24-7 and you hopefully dont do drugs but if you drink you can be drug or alchol breath tested at anytime your in service,if you fail you just lost your lease and probly would have a hard time getting a new one). Its just that simple ARE YOU READY???
Sorry to be so blunt but just trying to help!!

VanDriver..
Thank you for the input !!
Yes, I have given this a great deal of thought !
As far as drinking/drugs go.. But for the Grace of God..And AA ... I have not had to partake in over 23 yrs ( 10/27/83 )
As far as reserves, I am hoping I will be ok..Working on some things..
I have no kids/not married so no worries there..I do have a pretty little white Bichon Frise puppy ( AKA The Devil In White Fur )!!
I have given this some deep thought.. Not worried...
Be glad to get out of hell ( The V.A. )
Like to chat some more..I am going into a Sprinter for now..
If you can e-mail or send a PM !!
Thanks
