Well we left out on Friday and picked up near Ft. Wayne for a Monday 1pm del. Here we sit waiting in Oklahoma City waiting for the next load. Not counting the first time when we were sent on an empty move to West Palm Beach this is the longest amount of time that we have spent without a load. If this happened very often I think I would go nuts ( only 24 hours ) I must not be in a good area or something we have been first out for around 18 hours.
I had more required drug test than loads on this run. Score one load 2 requests for drug tests in 5 days. After I called asking why the second test they said they forgot to put in the data base that I took one Friday so they sent message over QC that no test was needed. ( I will admit that I was a little “aggravated” when I called them. ) So I apologized for sounding a little testee.

The truck seems to be doing fine now so we will be ready to run Hard till the end of the year........ Now to just get out of OK.

Well the two areas you mention outside of Ft. Wayne are not good places for out going freight. It depends on who you run for but I know if my trucks got in either of those areas without a prearranged load coming out, I would be eating the tail of the driver that took those. I wish you all the luck in the world. If I knew who you ran for I might be able to make a suggestion on where to move. If it were my truck it would be headed east in a big hurry. Good luck and be careful.

Hey There. Been where you are many many many many many (get the hint here:) ) times. OKC and Tulsa not real good places to get things out of. It has always been hit and miss with us when we are out there. The thing we have found to do is "bite" the bullet and Dead Head to St. Louis or West Memphis. That really cuts into the profit margin on the load you took out there, especially if you didn't have many paid on the run. I know that you can get a back haul out of there for a real cheap rate, but if it at least pays for the fuel you are not losing as much, or at least breaking even. Sometimes its a lot better taking a cheap back haul to get yourself back into the freight lanes than just sit. We are with Panther also, so I know where you are coming from.

When it is possible, I would try to do multiple shipments so you are not running too cheap. Might require an extra stop or two but it is better to travel at 1.60 per mile than .80 cents

I feel your pain.

Last Friday I found myself in Evansville IN after dropping in Princeton and sat the longest I ever had. I finally deadheaded back home to Florence KY.

Wouldn't you know it. I dropped in Nashville IL and the QC asked me to empty move to Henderson KY just south of Evansville. I thought, well surely if they are going to pay my fuel to move there, surely I will get something good. That was Wednesday morning. at 1pm I got a piddly run from Owensboro KY to Princeton IN and was promised first out. I took it and sat for 24 hours. I called dispatch and they assured me I was first out and that I should stay put. I went to bed, woke up after a 30 hour wait and headed back home to Florence.

Anyone else have such bad luck with Evansville?
