I dont work for Panther never have and dont know if I ever will (notice I said "dont know").
Some have accused others on this site (including me) of being Panther bashers.
But, I have seen just as many from Panther attack Fedex.
Your dispatcher wears army boots. So there.
When someone asks me why I work for Fedex, my reply is, "Dumb luck".
While looking for something to do after getting out of the embroidery biz, I stumbled upon EOLand.
This industry looked interesting. I explored the site, called a few owners who were looking
for drivers. One was with Panther, another Bolt and one with Fedex.
The one with Fedex, said if I applied with them my orientation could happen the next week, he had a brand new "D" SST, class 8 for me to drive (all of which meant nothing to me) and orientation was in Green Ohio.
Cool, I live in Bedford about 40 minutes away.
We got everything squared away with recruiting and went to pick up the truck, oh, and meet the owner, on Monday, and we were in class on Tues.
Nothing unusual I guess, but here is what I mean by dumb luck.
Sitting in the class to my left was a couple from Florida, on my right Texas, behind us Colorado.
When I found out they HAD to come to Green as I did, I thought to myself, no way would I have even gone 100 miles for a three day orientation.
Pure and simple, it was dumb luck that got me into expediting.
Now, am I a die hard Fedex guy? Nope.
Do I work a lot and have high availability, yep.
Do I have a very high acceptance rate, nope,
do I deliverer on time all the time, yep......
errrr, so okay I missed one.
Anyway, what I do, I do for mine, and only mine. If it works out for Fedex as well GREAT. And as long as the money is what we want there will be no need for me to change.
But, things happen, we are all experiencing some of those happennings now.
It was GOOD LUCK for Linda and me to stumble into expediting, but dumb luck all the same.
We are wrapping up two years in the industry and will be back for the third.
Oh, I must admit, I do kick the tires of every Panther truck I walk past in a lot.
I am "The Panther Basher/Tire Kicker Dude". Watch out all you Cats, I'm gonna getcha......
errr kick ya.
