Can someone tell me which is the best lease on to a company or use multiple carriers? If I use multiple carriers would I have to have my own authority? If I do go with multiple carriers is there any recomendations?
I certainly dont want a carrier that pays 30/90 days.

I personally prefer the lease option with an individual carrier. I have done very well with any of the carriers I have been with.

It all depends.
I have done both and I prefer to be leased on to only one carrier. When you are leased to multiple carriers you have to tell all of them when you get loaded, where you are, when you are out of service. Kinda like being married to more than one woman.
Advantages of being with more than one is that you don't have Qualcomm fees and you are not really limited in how many miles you run. The pay is usually on the lower side, but then there are some of the '1 company only' companies that pay less.

I have a 3/4 ton cargo van.

With a cargo van, you are really limited. Most good paying companies will not take you. You might be able to sign on with some that either don't pay that great, or/and they limit you in some way or another. Also, most companies have a limit on the age of the vehicle.

Usually, the small companies that allow you to be leased with other companies at the same time are not picky. They require you to buy your own primary liability, which will cost you around $200 a month though.
