LDB's Ride!

Thought I'd post this pic for Leo of his second truck. Finally found the problem on uploading. I'm sure he'll stop in with the specs, but I know it is a Kenworth W900L that he had converted. I beleive it is a 2006, and it has the studio sleeper.

Nice truck Leo!

Not that mine could measure up, but I figured I'd show a pic now that mine's all cleaned up. Seeing Leo's truck really makes me mis my '97 W900L.

Dale, thank you for posting the photo. You're a computer genius along with everything else! :)

The truck is a 2006 W900B model. The B has a 9" shorter hood than the L but otherwise is the same (to the best of my knowledge and information). The engine is a Cummins ISX 450ST that makes 1450 torque at 1200. The ST or Smart Torque, lets it uprate to 1650 torque in the top 2 gears if the load demands it. Most of the time it runs in the standard mode. The gearbox is an Eaton Fuller 18 speed. I went with that to get 2 overdrive gears. At 1300 I can run either 57 or 67 and at 1400 I can run 61 or 72 depending on which overdrive is selected. At the peak torque speed of 1200 rpm it's either 53 or 62. It's got 3.25 gears and 24.5 low profile tires on Alcoa Dura-Bright wheels. The sleeper is the 86" studio sleeper that has a sofa across the bottom and a bunk across the top. The sofa folds out to a bed also. I put Centramatics on all 3 axles. Combined with the better ride quality of tandem over single axle I have to say this literally rides better than my car. In it's defense I have to say my car is a Mitsubishi Ralliart so it's a sports car ride. I've got 24,500 miles on it so far so it's approaching about half broken in. Running about 62 or below I get 8-8.25 mpg which is about what I expected for the first 50-60k miles.

I like the looks of the T300 and especially color matched. I was going to color match mine but it was about $2500 extra for the cargo box to do it so I passed.

Really nice truck Leo. I came real close to trying a class 8 when it was time to replace my FL70 but I opted to go the other way and try a Sprinter. Now you're making me feel bad. Oh well, I'll keep my eyes open for you out there. Maybe you'll have time for a cup of coffee.

We have a team driving it for us currently, but when we drove it was my bribery tool to get her to go along.
Secondary reason was so I had room to pace while waiting on a load.

Sweet truck Leo!

Dieselphreak, wish I could have taken a better look at your ride the other day but we were behind on the load I had when I picked it up! You seemed surprised to have a stranger in a rest area ask if you were the Phreak.

Yeah, when you said "are you the phreak?" I'm thinking to my self "Who's this a**hole?" And then I remembered my screen name, and had a good time meeting somebody, and finishing my ice cream.
