I agree... that was a good thread. As I said in conclusion to that thread, that issue has come up before, and the members have stepped all over those suggesting running multiple logbooks or taking 1000 mi runs(straight thru) by themselves. My opinion is that it's necessary for newbies to see what the veteran posters, not moderators, have to say about illegal issues. And it's not like other mods would step in as Leo did. I think it's an issue that Leo gets overzealous on certain posts or threads, as opposed to thinking what good can come out of them.
Some times those who abuse their authority loose all respect from others. I guaranty Dreamer will be running to the little guys defense.

This would have been the perfect thread for the driver with many years under their belts (more than 5 yrs, ya know the professionals) to post all the wrong and illegal things in the trucking business. It could have been a great learning experience for the newbie’s.
I see no activity in the Mod forum or in the Truck wash forum, so I would assume Leo made this decision alone. I’m not one for telling him how to moderate, but the objective of a forum moderator is to invite correspondence, not discourage them. This forum and the members that belong are of the adult persuasion, not adolescents. Locking this thread was like sending a child to his room for making a wrong choice.
Hey LM this FORUM is far too important to our industry to allow decisions to be made by individuals alone. Remember why the Mod forum was set up way back when!!!

I posted my reply before I read yours Tenn. Leo shouldn't be making these calls on his own in the first place. He doesn't have the experience needed to moderate an important forum like EO.
Where are Rich, Dave and/or Terry and Glen in a situation like this? One of the more experienced Mods can unlock it. Had I not resigned, I would unlock it myself.

There were posts made that were not negative to two logbooks and in fact pointing out how it was now clear how 2 logbooks were needed to get past the new stupid rules. While I find a number of the rules stupid, including but not limited to the new HOS, pointing out it's obvious why 2 logbooks are needed to get around them is not what seems appropriate. The thread is open again to discuss the topic posted by the originator. Should anyone want to discuss how they see the need for 2 logbooks take it to a new thread. As to my moderating, I am an individual like everyone else. That means when I do what seems right it's what seems right to me, similar I suspect to what everyone else does. That is how I will always conduct myself, by what seems right and with genuinely good intentions. I'd hate to lose the big salary and fancy office I get for moderating but I won't be anything but myself and if that costs me the big bucks so be it.

All I said was that I can see using two logbooks... as in a team that can only drive 5 hours at a time without getting tired.

I would have to say Moderating these boards takes a really strong person. It isn't easy and from time to time - we make mistakes.
All in all - we have an awesome team of volunteers who try to keep our boards informational, to the point - and in a friendly civil environment.
I say give them a little credit from time to time.

First off, I don't run to anyone's defence Teacel, unless they deserve it. BUT, as a matter of fact, Leo did nothing wrong. He locked the thread until it could be discussed, and now it has been unlocked.
Our mods have authority to handle the 'little stuff' without taking a vote. Especially on issues relating to safety.
As Lawrence said, give our mods some slack. No matter what decision they make, or don't make.. SOMEONE will send us a letter complaining. We can't please everyone, so our mods have to use their own concience.

seems to me that all posts short of being vulgur should be left alone we all know the problems it causes when they get locked or deleted in lieu of safety or issues called negative we are all adults here and should be able to take creative criticism. i know that the owner and mods have fear of sponsor reprocussions but come on who is the site really for , i realize that they also use the site and contribute but it is really the drivers who gain real use the others just gain by the advertising they do and yes i know $ is involved, lets just not foget the drivers and get heading in the direction for example of the truckstops , oh excuse me travel centers. not griping just trying to give us all something to think about.
