We went to a really good mexican restaurant on the north side of Laredo. I can't recall the name but it is in the parking lot with the La Quinta hotel. The waiters spoke very little english. Oh, and they had a blind mexican piano player that played broadway show tunes. (I know that this sounds crazy, we were a little more confused by this) But the food was way good! I would go back again. Be prepared, cuz they didn't have burrito's etc... It was very authentic. (except for the show tunes)

Oddly enough, the two best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to have been in Decatur, Illinois and South Charleston, WV. In both places, if you went into the kitchen wearing a blue windbreaker, yelling "Imagraccion!" you'd have started a stampede out the back door. Food was fantastic, though.

I'm not a fan of the truck that parks between the two truck stops. Our faves in Laredo are the "Dos Amigas" truck that parks on Sara Road (they can be spotted by the fake tropical plant mounted on the back bumper, next to their generator)....wonderful breakfast tacos. For restaurants, we adore Taco Palenque. There are several all over the border. Very good frijoles charros, fajitas, carne asada, awesome salsa bar and as many fried tortilla chips as you can carry.....for free.

one of the best places in laredo to eat mexican food is " danny's " it is located just a couple doors south of the golden corral. parking out back. b-fast, lunch and dinner served. go in and let lupita take care of you. very sweet, amusing older lady.
