Keeping the sleeper floor clean in wet weather

I know this has been discussed several times but we found this solution by mistake and I want to share.

Puppy training pads make great disposable rugs. After someone had workrd on our truck, they placed the potty pad between the seats on the floor in the truck so they wouldn't get the floor dirty. I guess that's what they thought it was for.

The pads are inexpensive, disposable and soak up all the gunk from your shoes.

This sounds like a great idea. There has been many times that I have went to take a drivers truck in to get it serviced during their time off and have found the floor in these trucks dirty. I know when I was drving full time I aske my co driver to take their shoes off up front and not to be in the sleeper with their shoes on because we have to try to keep it clean back there. I like this Ideal on these Pads do you know where they sell them at?

Great funny comment about adult-sized Depends. My Flomax helps a lot, if I remember to take it at night.
Back to the subject: contrary to what many think, I have seen many drivers of rigs take off their shoes at the door. While I don't go that far, my ankle high boots generally do not cross the threshold of the Pete sleeper. If I must step back there, I keep a dirty tee-shirt rag on hand to use. I also keep an additional throw rug over the carpeted area. It works for me: the throw rug came from JCP's. I keep another rug between the seats: one can get good thick remnants down in the Dalton area...

The best deal I have ever found on these pads is at Petedge.com. Petedge is a wholesale warehouse of pet supplies. They will sell to anyone. There price for their brand of pads (which are the best ones I've used) is $29.99 for 200.

No matter the floor covering material, carpet or hard surface, the sleeper is much more pleasant when the floor is clean... for that matter the whole sleeper is clean.

Up in these parts the messy season can start as early as October and run through to early May. It is particularly challenging during that time to keep the floors in the truck clean... given that the more aggressive tread on footwear tends to grab hold of the dirt outdoors and release it indoors when the embedded snow starts to melt.

Now sometimes there is a conflict between keeping the truck clean and needing to make a quick trip inside the sleeper to get something and exit again. The reaction is to usually just go for it thinking there won't be much dirt left behind, but each one of those trips takes a toll on the floor. For that purpose we use clear polyethelene boot covers of the kind that are used in controlled environments such as laboratories. They slip on quickly and allow us entry into the sleeper to pickup something while keeping the floor clean.

For those times when we know we will be in the sleeper for a period of time... we store footwear on a built-in rack with a pan underneath to catch the drip. Footwear is allowed in the cab where the floor can get a little messy, but the covering there is a rubber mat which makes cleaning easy.

The effort to keep the inside clean starts on the outside where we have boot brushes attached on the steps on both sides.
