Keep your eye on GE

General Electric is planning to move its 115-year-old X-ray division from Waukesha, Wis., to Beijing. In addition to moving the headquarters, the company will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers. This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year. but paid no taxes-the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the united States.

So let me get this straight. President Obama appointed GE Chairman Jeff Immelt to head his commission on job creation (job czar).Immelt is supposed to help create jobs. I guess the President forgot to tell him in which country he was supposed to be creating those jobs.

If this doesn't show you the total lack of leadership of this President, I don't know what does. Please pass this information to others and think about it before you buy a GE product.

...or vote for Obama again.

Here's a thought...

Any company moving its headquarters out of country, or employing more foreigners than Americans, then they get a free ticket off the hometown stock market.

And here I thought GE was an International Company?..DOH...

Must be trading off the jobs that were brought back like in that article I posted a few months back about GE bringing back light bulb work to the US and restoring some lost jobs...

Yeah, and only fly on airplanes without GE engines. Don't ride on trains with GE engines.

GE is such a huge monster now...a few thousand jobs here or there matters to them not....Like GM and Ford aren't really American companies anymore...

It is a huge company. There are few, if any, large companies that are "American" companies these days.

I'm trying to figure out something, does it matter what they do?

I mean if we want to retain companies here, we need to start with having a workforce who is educated and willing to work. It all starts with public schools and how we teach our kids, we are still turning our kids who can't compare to someone in India who graduated high school in the math and science areas. Many blame the parents but I still blame the system, not because the teachers all want to just collect a paycheck but because the system is so screwed up that the best thing to do is to eliminate public school and let the money follow the kids.
