I have a brother that is driving for Covenant, and is wanting to come over to Expedite. He cannot come to work at my company, due to "conflict of interest". But here are his prospects:

T&K Nationwide
TRY HOURS
Jung Express
Continental Expedited Services
Bolt Express
And Diamond Delivery Service

He owns a tractor w/trailor and his concern isnt as much about pay per mile as it is his paycheck. He just wants to make sure he is making atleast $600/wk. Do you guys know anything about driving for any of these companies? I know I have given almost everyone of them a load or two, especially T&K, but I dunno about driving, for them. Any insight?

He drives a 53ft. and has a trailer. His concern isnt as much about pay as it is his paycheck. He just wants to make sure he is making atleast $600/wk. after fuel to live. U have had 60 hits on ur question, and no definitive answers, so there might be a reason u may not get any answers. Re read ur paragraph and see if it makes sense to u,,maybe read it 3 times , not trying to be smart **, ur statement is impossible to answer.:)

use the search function d03. all company questions have been asked and answered over the years.

jung afaik has no t/t frt. drove for them 6 mo in a strt and it was hard to be kept busy. they can make you more becuase there is no weekly qc fee.

Why doesn't your brother talk to the Recruiters at the Companies he's interested in?.

Not to bash you, but here is what I see as a conflict of interest - having a dispatcher with their own authority and trucks working for another company where there may be direct access to customers.

Having a family member work for the same company as a leased owner isn't a conflict of interest when the dispatcher has said they are selective in how they treat the owners/drivers of the company.

1st off,if your brother wants into expedite with a tractor, tell him to sell his trailer,it won't make him enough extra money, unless it's a TVAL reefer.
2nd.to make top money with a tractor in expedite, you really need to run team.
If he decides to go team,I recomend Tri State out of Perrsburg Ohio.He won't sit much, and believe me he will clear a lot more han $600 per week after expenses, but like I said, with a tractor in expedite, do to HOS laws,he needs to run team.

If you really want to know how trucks are doing for any company, talking to a recruiter is like talking to most used car salesmaen. You need to talk to trucks, owners that are leased to that company. Also, depending on work ethic, what some say is bad ,they cause themselves.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one.

Find a carrier that doesn't run electronic logs so you can at least drive in a parking lot of a truck stop..LOL. Don't need to run team, but dont need to run a lot of miles eithier. All depends on the carrier

Vinnie,it's not the electronic logs.Almost all the carriers use QC and that will tell them where you are.Tractor driverts don't have the driving to resturants problem that straight trucks problem .
And as long as your running solo, any load with any didtance will go to a team.I agree,it' s not the miles but the pay,but a solo will still have a problem with the miles, but if you only need the $600 clear a week,if you can't clear that, your not working

That's why a single driver needs to find a carrier that pays %, not per mile like most of them do.

we left fdcc that paid %,but as they givew out discounts, your pay also goes down. Most of these expedite companies have a hard time keeping solos busy with expedite freight. If they will mix broker loads with expwedite loads your better off,or you just stay in an are athat stays with 300 mle and under loads

Yeah, they make their operators bid against each other for discounted loads, at least that's what it seems to me when the sent the same 1.10 a mile load to 20 straight trucks at once.

I prefer a smaller carrier, that pays %...but good ones are very harf to find. Most small outfits are mismanaged worse the the big ones it seems.

Thats why you I think you would want to find an experienced small outifit. A company thats happy with having 50 +/- trucks staffing 5-10 people in the office. They stay busy enough to know what they are doing and how to communicate, but are not overdoing it.

Wow, I was just wondering, as I sometimes do and you were wondering too. I guess great minds think alike. Or at the very least wonder alike. We must be like soul mates or something. How cool is that!

What I was wondering was how your brother came up with his list of prospects? Surely having a brother with such vast knowledge and experience as you would have broadened his choice of potential companies. I mean, I'm justa wondering.

I'm also wonder what that protuberance on the left side of my head is. Possibly a cancerous tumor or a dispatcher nodule? Scuse me, I do believe I'll dust my broom.
