The National Speed Trap Exchange
This morning I opened a Notice of Violation from the City of Montgomery, AL for $60. Two nice color photos of my van on it. Seems I was traveling 36 mph in a 25 mph zone on Perry Hill Rd. I'm a bit disappointed & irritated to say the least. I'm normally very diligent about watching my speed, especially on city streets. Upon investigating this a little, I discovered the following:
The state of AL does not require a certain distance between speed limit signs.
Refer to photo of Perry Hill Rd. At this distance, it's very possible I could have missed the sign.
Also, I have a habit of relying on my Garmin to alert me when I'm over the speed limit (flashing red speed). In this case, it probably didn't even pick up the change in the speed limit.
I found some complaints about this online; attached links.
I find it interesting that the violation is for Exceeding Posted Speed Limit, but as stated on the notice, "This is considered a non-moving infraction and no points assessed." Kinda takes away the incentive to drive down & dispute it .... just pay the fine & all is forgiven.
Ya'll be careful out there ....
