Just how reliable are our network suppliers?

Oh I don't know. Not really bored, been shopping and building another pantry unit and getting ready to build the electronics for another dehydrator for someone who wants the best!

Mayyyyybbbbbeeee the question is ....

Just how reliable is your Internet Provider?

We don't get supplied network or the internet, we access it. The provider gives us access to it.

BUT TO answer the question, mine is very ... extremely reliable. I have about 99.99999% uptime with the connection. The speed is a different matter, more on that later. My mobile connections well that's another thing - that's AT&T, with the same great feature - Dropped Calls in Major Markets. I can be in the middle of Manhattan with a great signal, sitting right next to the AT&T building and still have a dropped call on my cell and my data connection.

The more on that later bit now. The question shouldn't be how reliable the service is, it is how well does the service work. The meter thingy shows the speed and that's about it. It doesn't measure reliability because that is a long term thing so most don't get what thats about anyway but they strive for the green thingys opposed to the red thingys on the meter and think they are all right with them - speed is what it is called. I depend on a lot of things for a 'speedy connection' ... time of day, how many idiots are gaming and how fast the server on the other end is responding to the request I made for the web page - which by the way is the most important thing of all.

The real issue I was addressing was the usage counter....just how accurate is it? How do we really know?

You don't.

That's the problem with the systems we use, there is no way to see if it is accurate or the billing is accurate. One reason why I don't have limits on any of my connections, it may be more expensive but it eliminates one hassle.

Verizon has tinkered with the price structure on usage...it is better but has a way to go yet...
