Personally not in favor of younger semi drivers in general, mostly from a maturity and experience factor. But there is some logic to changing what really is a stupid rule.
A 18 year old can drive all over Texas and be fine, but cross a invisable line going into Oklahoma, and suddenly he is unsafe?
That's pretty messed up

18 years old is old enough for our government to send them to a foreign land and die.

Any laws that are “concerned about safety” beyond that is completely hypocritical imo.

Well....... doesn't affect me directly, BUT, just like we Vanners, an increase in Van supply seems to have the affect of decreasing rates. Will an influx of commercial CDL drivers have a negative affect on hourly rate for W2 drivers. Will small fleets bring line haul drivers on for a nickle (or dime) less and starve out the drivers that are at the top of the pay program? John @ Load 1 wouldn't do it but I'll bet many, many others would.

Oh, I completely agree and guarandamtee you that is currently happening. There is no loyalty or dedication in this business anymore. All companies care about is the bottom dollar.

The other extreme is an 18 year old can drive all over Rhode Island and be fine, but cross an invisible line going into Connecticut, and suddenly he is unsafe. I guess the only fair states to restrict 18 year olds to intra-state driving would be Alaska and Hawaii.
