Just on the east side of Shoals, IN is Jug Rock located in the forest on the north side of highway 50. For those of you who have loaded at Crane IN going towards Louisville or to the SE you have probably driven by the rock.
Jug Rock over 60' tall with a flat rock on top called the stopper. It is most easily seen in the winter when the trees are bare. The rock is made of sandstone and very unusual and the only known one of its kind east of the Mississippi.
If you are going west on hwy 50 there is a small area just large enough for a straight truck to stop for a few minutes to see the rock, if going east you can slow down if no traffic and see the rock formation in the forest.
