Jon Stewart rips Newsweek's Bachmann cover

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - Jon Stewart says the worst part about conservative complaints of media bias is when they contain "a kernel of truth" -- and that conservatives have a point about Newsweek's unflattering Michele Bachmann cover.

The cover describes her as "The Queen of Rage." Stewart called Newsweek out on Tuesday's "The Daily Show" for using cheap attempts to undercut the Minnesota representative and Republican presidential candidate.

He mocked the magazine's statement that it ran the photo to capture the way she has galvanized Iowa voters.

"I get it, Newsweek," Stewart said. "You put in 'The Queen of Rage' juxtaposed with a picture of a lady that appears to be enchanted by simple math being done on a blackboard that's been hung too high. Or maybe it's a child thinking of cake!.

"But. Be honest Newsweek. You used that photo in a petty attempt to make Michele Bachmann look crazy. And that's what her words are for ... You want a photo that makes her seem a little off? Make it out of her words."

He added: "Shame on you, Newsweek. And your editor, Tina Brown," before posting the least flattering Brown photo he could find.

It just happened give them a chance at least they may or may not, on the other side how many on the left cheer for O'Reilly when he sides with them or talk about how great McCain is. They really have no duty or reason to boost up some left wing douche either.

Oh, I totally agree. I just think it is sad if you can't give kudos to somebody just because they are on the otherside.

I would say kudos if I thought for a minute that what he says really matters.Beside just because he called newsweek out he was still mocking bachmann and getting laughs at her expense.Stewart is a comedian and thats all he is and IMHO not a very funny one at that.

Other than what some in here have said about this guy I have NO idea who he is. Never seen him or heard him as far as I know.

No, not sheltered. I just don't give a flip about entertainment. I have things that I enjoy and choose to spend my time on those. Same goes for sports on TV. I will watch if I have nothing important to do, like hunt or fish. In the truck I have no TV. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, there is, at least not yet, any law that requires one to watch certain TV shows or like what the "masses" like. I have my own circle of friends, we all enjoy the same things. Sounds like normal life to me.

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while and this particular one has spent most of his political talking points trying to make mincemeat out of anything conservative so the fact that he gets it right just this once does not give me the warm fuzzies and compel me to hold him up for a medal.

Also, your use of the word "retardican" doesn't do much for your standing seeing how you're talking about fellow members and not "retardicans" in general.

Uh, Rags - maybe I'm misinterpreting it, but I read it as O'Reilly being O'Reilly, and not flattering to Bachmann.
But like LOS said: entertainers. It's what these guys do, and I'll give them kudos when they make a genuine effort to meet in the middle, instead of chopping each other apart.

In the second post he also insulted Stewart, I think Ragman is in the middle but leans a little to the left with some policies. It is not much different than me, I come off as a right wing person because of some of my beliefs but I am in the center on most issues.

Honestly now. If you don't know who people are talking about, why even comment? Is it that you want the expedite world to know you watch little tv? Or are you trying to boost your post count? It's not that you even want to learn about the guy. You just boast about not caring. That seems odd to me.

I posted because people put far too much importance on what entertainers say. They often use their celebrity to sway people who are weak minded enough to believe that entertainers are somehow important.
