I've Got The Itch Again

2 years removed from driving, I was with panther for 3 years as a team in a straight truck working for an o/o. I did the 60/40 split we paid fuel.

After working for the man again, Im looking to get back in the TRUCK.

Only this time I would want my own truck and be an o/o. I would purchase a truck hopefully 30k or less and at this time only be able to put down 15% and have 5k in reserve. It would be a team operation all the money going into the same pot.

I know in 2 years the expediting business must have changed alot and I'm asking for any opinions and advice.

I would want an elite truck and We would be government cleared. My financial needs would be to have a net income after all things paid of $7k month....Is that realistic, if not what could I expect?

Thanks for your time,
FredK

Seems like the most prudent plan would be to go drive for an owner of a Panther Elite truck first.
Once on the inside again, you can keep accurate numbers and see for yourself. This might be much more useful than asking for others opinions and making a leap without hard data.
Yea, I know. Obvious advice and you probabably are trying to avoid driving for an owner, but still makes sense.
Good luck.

With 30k or less for a truck and 5k in reserves, you are undercapitalized. If it is just the gamble your after, buy a powerball ticket.

Agreed. I wouldn't even put another new van on the road without $10K in reserves, let alone a straight truck.

If you needed $84K/yr NET after all expenses, you could definitely expect to be disappointed.
