i for one am not ready to take on another monthy payment ($35.00-$50.00) for a service that i wouldn't be using enough to justify that kind of money being paid out.DD.

I wish there was more sites with smaller loads for vans, but most of these sites post larger loads and cost an arm and a leg. I tried it and nothing came off of it, except too many phonecalls.

This is another topic where there are many lines of thought and rarely do we agree.

If you use this sites enough, and by that I mean study them, watch them, you get a good feel for what is out there and if you check the lanes on the sites you will find runs that occur daily. You can make a list of those and keep the phone numbers with you and you can always grab one to simply get you some cash as ooposed to DH.

I buy in and out of Getloaded as I need it. Example is last week. I signed back up for a month and actually found plenty of freight to help me out during this time but I quickly have been put right back to work on my dedicated so in my case this really was not worth the $35 for the month. Be sure if you use it don't set you profile for auto renew so you do not get charged if you do not want to.

If you have to pay your carrier a percentage it is my opinion any of these sites rarely pay for themselves if you do in fact pay them monthly.

On a number of occassions I have simply acted as though I had my own authority and I loaded myself based on availible frieght out and back for a week at a time. If you take multiple loads and plan out and back I see where you can do well at this. My Opinion!

If you are using someones authority and paying them a percentage, seems like a last resort to me. But then again I have used them.

Raceman,
when I had subscribed to them, I only found loads that paid $100 for a 500 mile run. If I did that the whole week just to make up for a slow week, it would not even pay for the gas. I guess one might have better chances with a straight truck than with a cargo van. Most of the loads posted did'nt fit in the van, and those were ususlly paid better.
So I guess it just depends on the vehicle.

Yeah I hear you. Number one I missed the fact that you are talking about a Cargo Van. Number two is all in all these sites are almost useless unless you can get more than one order as part of the run. In other words you get two or three orders that are each paying you $.85 a mile. Then it becomes helpful.

Notice In my note I said I worked this out on paper and I also noted that you could not pay anyone any percentage.

Really these sites are not the best way to get backhaul. They can sometimes provide you something above $0.0 per mile. That is about it

I have used getloaded.com several times. I use it most to get home because there isn't too much going into Houston in expedited freight. I've had a couple of loads from there that paid over a dollar a mile after giving up the company cut. More often they pay all expenses of the truck plus enough to buy my food for the trip and maybe a few dollars left over. That's ok though because it gets me home at no out of pocket cost. For me that's what that site is about, to get me from point A to point B at no cost and hopefully with a few dollars left over. Obviously I'd much rather have a full pay company run with good fsc but this is much better than d/h out of my pocket.

I'm not sure how useful it would be for a van though because even with the LTL filter probably half the loads are too heavy for my D unit. I have seen loads that would work in a van though and put together a package of three 1 skid loads once that got me where I wanted to go at upwards of two dollars a mile. You can use the site in demo mode and see the load sizes but just not get the contact info I think.

expediteloads.com is a joke. A company I was with subsribed to it for 6 months. never got a good paying expedite load off of it. The one load we did paid 1.35 a mile for a cargo van. All the others where offering less than a buck a mile for a d-unit.

NLM and the big expedite companies basically has a good lock on expedited freight.
