Is one religion better than another?

To address only the question posed in the title of the thread: Yes, absolutely ... at least in the eyes/mind of any given individual adherent, of any particular/given religion.

That's why it's their religion ...

True. In this case it appears they are wanting to decide for you.

And BTW: based on what is reported in the article, it doesn't appear that "one religion being better than another" had much - if anything at all - to do with the decision.

Sounds more to me like "copyright" and "fraud" issues.

Because the California court is deciding on their own and telling Google to remove this video.
Had it been say a Christian video, would the result be the same?
As to whether it was fraud or copyright issues, that was my first thought. But if so, I think it would have been settled prior to going to the ninth district.

In reading the article I'm not sure the case had anything to do with religion as far as legal arguments.

That was my initial thought but if this video was of another religion, would it be the same result? I'm not so sure. That was my point.

What you have here is one tribe fighting another tribe...example: The Baptist tribe says they are better than the Methodist tribe. By the way, many churches are changing their signature from the old way of marking their ground and using the new signature of " Cookeville Life Church", these days. It cuts through the fussing of " oh, will, your a Methodist or your a Baptist". It smooths out the the arena of name calling and bashing...and stops all that tithing money from going to some district office bank account. All the money and operating capital is then sent to where the church wants it to go, not to where they are told it should go. A new day and age.

The Life Church name is going up all over America now. The church I attend is loaded with all the standard tribes," Methodist, Baptist,Church of Christ,Lutherans,etc- a melting pot of tribes ...

So you see, no attacks . The Muslims might take a look at that or maybe your tribe and see if the fussing doesn't stop. The Mohammad/ Muslim name could be changed to " Life in Mecca" for example and it really does not say which religion/tribe they are. Cookeville Life Church - A Non-Denominational Fellowship we were called Cookeville Assembly of God.....

That's what courts do - decide "on their own" with regard to legal disputes.

As a matter of law, it shouldn't matter - because the legal aspects (copyright and possibly fraud) being addressed have nothing to do with any religion so far as I can tell.

Nah ... because the copyright, and particularly the fraud aspect, (between the actress) involves a different party (and the producer) than is hosting the video (Google)

Google don't wanna be told by anyone else to take something down - that's a decision that they would like to reserve for themselves alone if at all possible.

Without a doubt. That has a whole lot to do with it. It will be interesting to see the final outcome.

The Life Church sounds appealing, but history says it will see various groups splinter off when they can't agree on something they consider important, and the church won't change for them. Or is changing, and they can't go along. That's why there are Lutherans, Calvinists, etc, and human nature hasn't changed that much.

This issue and the court order really has nothing to do with religion. Because it's computer and Internet related, this is an issue that has long been discussed on many of the geek Websites. Google publishes all of its takedown requests (Google Transparency Report), including who made the requests and how many requests they made. It's an interesting list, and one that geeks and Internet Freedom folks keep a close eye on. The site is broken down into three main sections: Traffic Interruption Report; Removal Requests for DMCA reasons, and Requests from Governments. It's a list that also shows which governments are the most anal, and what things they are the most anal about.

In this case, copyright ownership was disputed, so it required a court decision to decide who can and cannot issue a DMCA notice. The subject of the film, while a factor in the decision due to fraud, is really not the issue as far as Google is concerned. Clips from the film itself has quite a history of takedown requests (102 were granted to the government of Egypt, for example).

I would like to see all religions defined as weapons of mass destruction.
The number 1 reason and or excuse for war, mass murder, and hate is religion.

Most "organized" religion is just a tool to control the masses.

Adrian Rodgers and Charles Stanley are great preachers. Ravi Zacharis I have not known, but Michael Yousef is great also.
