About the cargo vans/Sprinters: The 2500 series vans will all be under 10K by a generous amount. My Chevy is rated at 8,600, a 2500 series Sprinter will be rated at about 8550. The 3500 series vans are likely to run close to 10K gross, these are the ones you have to keep an eye on the door sticker. Many companies don't want a 3500 series Sprinter anyway because the rear wheel wells stick so far into your cargo section that getting a skid between the wheel wells-- good luck, you'll need it. In the Sprinters, I would stick with the 2500 series for that reason alone.
Any van over 3500 series is going to be over 10K, hardly even need to look at the door sticker.
FWIW, I'm running one-eyed too. I might give the 3500 series Chevys and Fords a look-see, but so far my 2500 series van has done everything I've asked of it without whimpering, and because it's 8,600 GVWR I don't worry about the DOT over much.
