I just want all you drivers to know how to look up public information.there was another thread that was locked and rich made the comment about only people with broker authority can offer you loads.I dont 100% agree with that I think if you have your own authority that there is anything wrong with having agents that work from home and find loads for you as long as the load is booked under the authority that matches the name on the door of the truck picking up the load.Ive dispatched for as many as 5 seperate companies at one time but Ive set up each company with everyone I know.never do I call on a load and book it under my company name and dispatch it to another carrier that would be brokering.
as far as bonniemac I didnt want to run her off she helps people on getloaded with advise on all sort of topics but I have seen her ads about how she dispatches for people but wont give out her company name
if you get a call from anyone that wants you to take a load make sure they are either a broker or the load is booked under your company name it will save you alot of headache if they decide they dont want to pay. A broker will have a bond you can file on.if you take a load for a carrier thats booked under anyones company name other than yours the customer is going to pay that company and if they decide that they need the money more than you chances are it wont be worth what you have to do to collect.
just so you know when and if you get a call you should go to www.safersys.org a public website and look up the company makeing the offer to you just click on company snapshot and put in the name or MC# and it will tell you if they have active authority broker, carrier or both check out there MCS-150 if they are trying to recruit you to sign on with them.If they are pretenders they will tell you they have 50 trucks or whatever and they have been in the biz for years things like that and just double check what they are saying.your next step should be doing a credit check to see if there has been any claims of non-payment things like that.you can use a credit service like RTS or compunet to do this.and never just sign a rate agreement get a copy of there bond you may need it latter.
Bonnie like I said im sorry if I offended you but you shouldnt be offended if you have nothing to hide and see no reason why you shouldnt continue to post here.at least you do pay.
and when you got authority you put your information out there for everyone to see its not just for the dot its for anyone.
