We have a couple straight truck drivers who live in Florida and we usually get them back out after they've had home time. Most of the time we bid loads going down there with the miles back at least to Jacksonville included in the bid. We get a fair amount of those loads.

As to the van thing, I'm glad I got off the road when I did. It was pretty good for a while, but it's harder to get van loads for anything resembling a good rate now. I've figured out that the people making the most money in this business aren't the ones behind the wheel. I think I've made more in the last year than I made in any year driving.

Expediting must be coming to a concluding point for vans... who will make it, who will give up and go home ? May awaits... this month will certainly determine much more. :)

The best thing that could happen for vans is for a good number of them to quit or switch to another truck type. Supply and demand and all that.

The people making the real money in trucking are the mechanic shops.
Even if they do the repair wrong they still get paid.
