Makes Me Go "Hmmm"

... As you watch the flooding in the Midwest , have you noticed that there
are no farmers running around with stolen plasma TVs or holding stolen
liquor over their heads. There's no looting or yelling "Where's Bush?",
"Where's FEMA?, Where's my check?", or "Why isn't the Gov't out here
saving me and my farm?"

Likewise, I've also noticed there are no reports of any other country coming
to help or sending aid.

Shocking contrast isn't it???!!!!

Just go to show that some people are used to working and some are used to taking. What this country needs is a new direction. "You work, You eat" nothing further needs to be done.

You got it, no work, no eat. We set up a "safety net" to help people in trouble, it has became a hammeck. Layoutshooter

late4dinner,

You actually cited a Biblical principle.

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

2 Thessalonians 3:10

No new thing under the sun.

Truth is timeless.

You do realize that the quote that "nothing new under the sun" was taken from was all about the monotony, meaningless and futility of life, right?

(Eccl 1:3-18 NIV) What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun? {4} Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever. {5} The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises. {6} The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. {7} All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again. {8} All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing. {9} What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. {10} Is there anything of which one can say, "Look! This is something new"? It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time. {11} There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow. {12} I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. {13} I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men! {14} I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind. {15} What is twisted cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted. {16} I thought to myself, "Look, I have grown and increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge." {17} Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind. {18} For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.

Ecclesiastes is hardly prophecy. Post-it® Notes proves that. Ecclesiastes is wisdom literature, more poetry than narrative. The last line is quite telling. He's saying ignorance is bliss. :)

Really - who needs the old folks, or the sick, or the feeble, or the disabled? We'd be so much better off, if we didn't have to care for, or about, those who can't care for themselves, right? (Even just temporarily)
To' cite ' Louis Armstrong: "What a wonderful world..."

Old sick and feeble is one thing. Lazy, no count people that do nothing but take is something else and I don't want to support them, not even for a second. I know a bum in Columbus ohio that cant work because he has taken so many street drugs that his brain is damaged. He gets full disability SSI. He can do anything that you and I can do except work for a living. He never has to file a tax return because he has no taxable income. However he filed last year so he could get his $600 rebate. I worked and only got $300 but he gets $600. go figure. Now to set the record straight, I am so liberal that I make Ted Kenedy look like a republican, but right is right. If you are so lazy you wont work, you better have someone that loves you enough to care for you.
