Hello all,

Please allow myself to introduce...myself. I am an OTR driver. I have been with Schneider for a little over a year now. (1 year May 2004). I have been driving on a dedicated JC Penney account for about 6 months now. Unfortunately, things arent working out very well, so I am looking for a change. I picked up an Expediters Online magazine at the detroiter when I used to run from indianapolis to taylor MI 5 days a week. But, go figure, I was taken off that run before I had a chance to go to the big show. Anyway, the subject of Expediting has peaked my interest, and I am just starting to gather some information from this site and a few other resources.

Also, small note to the IT department of Expediters Online, fantastic job. I had a little difficulty logging in because my security levels were set so that no cookies could be placed, anyway, good job. Took your advice to a "T" and, well, looks like it worked! Thank you!

Ditto on the welcome aboard. You're going to love this sight. If you want to know anything about expediting more than likely you'll find your information here. If you have questions about expediting in general, or questions on trucks, vans, setups, maintenance, companies, how to get along with people and occasionally how not to get along with people (haha).. you'll find it here. When you have the time try browsing the archives for some really great info. Any questions that you have can be bought up in one of the forums and surely you'll get some valuable responses. There are a lot of very busy people here who take time out from their schedules to share their experiences and knowledge for us newcomers. To Lawrence and all a heartfelt thank you for this sight, the expo, seminars, and for all who contribute to the forums. So far the only problem that I see with this sight is that it can be addicting! Thank you for the kind welcome. I have discovered that this site IS very different than a lot of other "trucking" forums. The main difference I noticed? Kindness. Most other trucking boards are becoming the new version of a CB Radio, and you can't really ask any questions because almost all of your time browsing is spent trying to defend yourself or what you have said previous. Not very conductive to learing.

I will be a little quiet on the board for a bit. I will be browsing and learning from both the active posts and the archives. One of my pet peves is people asking the same thing over and over again that can clearly be found in multiple archive (and active) posts. I do feel there is no harm in asking a question; however, one cannot expect a full in-depth answer when its something like "how much can I make doing this." LOL

Anyway, I appreciate the kind welcome, and now I am really dissappointed that I didnt find this site until AFTER the big expo. Sounds like I missed a golden opportunity. Well, I suppose I'll have to make it up to myself somehow.

I agree - most trucking forums have fizzled into flame fests. Our purpose here is information and community - not egomania.

I also would like to welcome you aboard. This site is one of the few places where expediters from almost every company pull together and act like a family. Almost everyone on this site is willing to help another driver become successful regardless of who we haul for. I have referred many prospective drivers to this site - and I can do that with the confidence that they will see how we (expediters in general) really are a family. I applaud all of you that run and participate in these forums. EO really makes expediters look like a good bunch of folks, and makes everyone feel welcome regardless of experience or alliance.
