Would someone please tell me how they normally run holiday road time? Do you go home for Christmas, then take off the next day? Are the plants normally shut down for Christmas and New Years. Thanks! :)

To describe the week as "slow" between Christmas and New Years would be an overstatement. My experience with the auto plants and their suppliers is that they are all pretty well shut down between the holidays. It can get a bit busy the week prior to Christmas stock may need to get places before the shutdown. I have found the week between the holidays to be a good week to schedule vehicle maintenance. January and February can be really iffy. If the auto industry keeps pumping out the cars we could stay reasonably busy.

Yes, the week between X-Mas and new years has traditionally been a good time to take off.

Just goes to show how crazy this business is: Last Christmas, I left
Charlotte on 12/23, del. in St. Louis on 12/24, spent Christmas day in Kansas City & del. there on 12/26. An agent called me on the 27th
& offered to pay me FULL RATE to dead head back to St. Louis & pick up
a 3 stop load that would empty out in Milwaukee on 12/30. Picked up in
Burlington, WI on 12/31 & del. BACK in KC 01/02/02!! Made enough to
have my wife(Boss?)ask me if I could do it again this year!! Anyhow,
the point is, as everyone knows, we just never know what the next call
might bring our way. Merry Christmas.

If I was a single guy and was out chasing freight Xmas and New Years would be a real good time to be in service. Not many drivers are going to be out there and in service Xmas week and New Years week.
