There have been several threads about them that should turn up with a search. They seem to have a good reputation. I have recommended them in the past and will do so in the future until/unless I learn something different than what I know now. Do a search to find more.

Leo... I just thought of something. If you keep telling ppl to do a search, the majority of the search is going to come back threads of you telling other ppl to do a search. :p

Horses... C&M is a good company for those who want dispatching and little more. They don't hold your hand. They don't give advances. They expect you to know the business and put forth your best effort every time. And you're expected to "take one for the team" quite often. Having said that, they have respectable miles per run. My shortest run was 289 mi in 1.5 years there. When freight is good, they're HOT. But when it slows down, they're hit and miss... more often miss. Knowing that, you could do well if you have patience. They won't find you something just to put freight on your truck, unless you ask them. Cal has his prices, and he rarely deviates from them. So you will not get anything lower than your rate, unless you take a van load in a truck. But they are good ppl to work with.

I run into a driver at one of the plants I service every now and then and his parents run for them as a team. In my discussions with him I mentioned them and he pointed out his connection. He had very good things to say about them. That of course is about third hand at this point but it is info.

If memory serves me right BroomPilot was, and may still be with them. I think he speaks highly of them or at least did last I knew.

Well my experience with them is some what dated, but Of the companies we ran for Roberts/FECC, Panther, LEA, and C&M I would rate C&M at the top. The last expediting gig we had was driving for a O/O and we tried to talk him into signing on with C&M, so we were really happy with them.

Broom doesn't run for them anymore. However, he would definitely endorse them to the right person. This isn't a company for someone who wants their hand held. They are freight driven with little or no empathy for those running. At the same time, they're staff is very friendly. It's weird. They'll fit you if you like a company that is all business. But like Olko, this is my favorite company, as well. It's also the longest I've driven for a company. And now I'm putting a truck on with them.

It doesn't matter where you work,if the fit is right, you will be ok,if not,you will be asking alot of questions.I make money where I am,but there have been many leave, cause they couldnt make it here.
In the beginning it was easy, but now there is lots of competition, both in your own company and other companies, vying for the same freight, and of course the customer is looking for cheapest way for him to ship.Myself I like working on a percentage contract, others will say mileage pay is the only way,so you have to see what suits you.
Remember one thing, there are busy times and slow times,in expedite, you make hay while the sun is shinning, dont be sitting home during the busy times, then complain your not making money when its slow,or you will be jumping from company to company.

I'll echo the good comments that have been made here. I've been with them 9 months and was impressed enough to buy a new D-truck to put on with them.

I never had a truck on with C&M but I knew Cal from when he was a dispatcher for Panther, I always got along with him and thought that he was a good guy.:)

EXCELLENT fit for me. If comming back to Expediting I would sign on with them over a Tri State, FECC, Panther HANDS DOWN.

Some times slow, but all in all THE BEST DISPATCHERS in any TRUCKING COMPANY in any type of Freight Hauling. Well all except for one who looks out for his own self intrest over the fleet. But thats only one out of about 8.

The owner Cal and Mike, well liked and respected by both the Industry and his fleet. Everyone who is anyone high up, knows Cal and Mike. Contacts they got em. Never once ever cheated me, and on a personal note they are a great bunch of people to not only do business with but to know all around as good people.

Only my best wishes to all at C & M. Enough said?

Find a better company, I just do not see how.
