Colorado is going to suspend CDLs, etc... for OUT OF SERVICE VIOLATIONS Does this mean that if I understand this correctly, if you are put OOS for logs, or Mechanical and are cought violating them.

What are the terms for a log violation, I thought it meant 10 hours you are side lined for. As for Mechanical, until you get it fixed and have the Repair Man (Mechanic) sign the Log book that the violation was repaired.

Is this just another example of lawmakers going overboard?

What they mean is if you truck is put out of service and you violate that, you are then subject to the suspension.
If for example they put you out of service for 10 hours and you drive off before the 10 hours are up, you will face some nasty music.

Has this ever happened to anyone. I could have been busted, I was only off 9 hours and not 10. I honestly thought I was off but after checking my logs I discovered that one day I shorted my 10 hour by an hour. Changed time zone, and paid attention to my cell and not my clock than the time made no sense at the end of the day.

Punishment??? Whats the score if they pulled me in the following day which L.A. started to do and than passed me by. I was already and set to go in with confidence and than discovered 200 miles later I would have had some explaining to do.

10 hours out of service would have been painfull to say the least.
