In and Out of Indy

I am looking at getting into expeditiing and have noticed on the location threads it seems like I am seeing some people in and out of Indy. I live north of Indy so I am wanting to know how many cargo van loads are going into and out of Indy. This would help me get home. Thanks.

Indy is a good area

I know a lot of people do well in cargo vans, but personally I would get into a straight truck. Seems there are a million vans out there. Just my .02

No one would be able to answer that question. As far as expediting goes it is a good area to live in. The company your signed on with could make a difference in how good of area it is for freight in the area.

So, xiggi, can you give me your take on the same scenario using Flint, MI. Thanks, Steve

I got a company I that has at least 5 or 6 loads a month coming out of Barstow California all the way to Lincoln, Nebraska. Then loads from Lincoln Nebraska to Galesburg, Il, and then from Galesburg, Il all the way to Erie, Pa. All the freight is non-automotive and virtually recession proof. When you are a squirrel looking for food, you have to do your research and go ahead and find out where that "nut" is at!

Everyones situation is different and every company has strengths and weaknesses in certain areas. A good company for you to try that regularly has loads out of Indianapolis is "Miller Logistics!" I think Miller will allow you to lease on with them as well as a few other companies simultaneously. I'm currently getting ready to lease on with three companies and give the multiple carrier deal a whirl. I did this in 2009 and it turned out to be a very profitable business venture. That is because company number 1 had a load for me one day and the next day company number 2 had another good load for me. It all depends on what your personal needs are.

I'm gonna leave the house in a few weeks and spend every single day of 2011 on the road in service because I spent a lot of time dilly dallying around at home last year. You should just try and call Miller Logistics and see what they have to say about getting you loads out of Indy and then try and contact another company that can get you loaded back to Indy! You can also call Commercial Insurance Solutions and ask that man about leasing on with multiple carriers and how the whole deal works. People will tell you not to waste your time with companies like T&K Nationwide; that you can't make money with them. I have an old friend who made 17k with them in one year, and they were just one of many companies he was working for simultaneously. Remember, expedite is about thinking outside the box, you gotta taylor this gig to suit your personal needs. I hope this info helps bro!

Flint is a great area to get loads. The key to your particular situation is to go to work for a smaller company that does not have very many trucks in the area. You need to cut down "in house competition" and in doing so you will surely get some good loads out of your area. You will alsoget loaded much faster than you would if you were leased on to a company that has say 35 trucks sitting around Detroit on a Monday morning. Once again, you have to do your homework and figure out how to get with companies that will keep your wheels turning!

Yup, but the company that i'm going to be pulling for gets the right of first refusal because they offer the best price option. They were paying 80 CPM flat for cargo vans but they are currently in the process of adding a fuel surcharge to that rate due to higher fuel prices. G.E. Transportation uses a list of five approved carriers to haul their freight and it goes by price and then by availability. Panther is on their list of approved carriers but they only get the load after the number one company can't get it covered for a cheaper rate.
