As much as I would like to see something like this here is the problem;
The US and Britain stand alone.
China has interest in both the Middle East and Europe for economic reasons and will not do anything that will mess with the stabilization of their economy.
Russia has serious internal problems and are friends with some of the terrorist groups to keep them quiet about Chechnya and the killings going on there. They are leaning more to the old ways because of the problems with organized crime, the super wealthy and this concept of more freedoms and independence for the states within the federation. One issue that I think we, the US made a mistake about is snubbing Putin’s offer of a missile defense system and talking with Poland about placing it there. Putin needs the US for some stability in Eastern Europe and this was a slap in his face.

Simon, the shame of all of it was not taking the scientist out of Europe but allowing Macarthur to have a hand in Japan and protect the emperor and a bunch of other officers and politicians. The emperor and his family should have met the same fate as the Romonovs in 1919. Macarthur should have never been involved but since he was he should have been watched closely but both the congress and Truman ignored the reports because Japan was not Europe. The Aussies got screwed on the whole thing, they wanted to hang the emperor and everyone else, rightfully so, but Macarthur ran interference for the emperor and the only thing that the Aussies could do was summary executions outside of the Tokyo war crimes trial that p*ssed off Macarthur – which is what we should have done in the first place the second we occupied Japan. I talked with some of the officers who were the very first into Japan and they told me about a lot of double deals with Macarthur, his staff and many of the high ranking officers of the Japanese army, talk about a scam. You know that the people involved with the medical experiments like the Japanese Army Unit 731 were all given immunity by Macarthur? The shame of all of that is we allowed the very people who tortured and killed American and allied soldiers to walk free. The odd thing about this is somewhere in the Nuremburg trial transcripts is a description written by an SS doctor who was part of the T3 program and worked at some of the camps, he was an observer of the Japanese medical experiments before 1941 and he said it was too much for him to take, the outright, the outright brutality that the Japanese inflicted on the patients and asked to return to Germany.
Leaving the Arabs alone and fighting it out, it will never happen, even if we did this right from the start, it would have come here on our shores eventually. Maybe not with 9/11 but maybe something even worst and it would have happened. We are not just fighting for freedoms in Iraq but we are fighting a culture war and this war will not have any real winners, just survivors. The unfortunate thing the war between the sects has been going on for 1100 years or so and no one will ever stop that, we are caught in the middle and blamed for it.
