I'm outta here ... (at Landstar)

Here is the letter I sent to the various agents I worked with.

Effective in a few days I will be leaving expediting in total.

My wife, who is already retired, wishes to do some rv traveling, and insists I also retire. For me, that is a big BOO HOO! But at 67, I guess it is time.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with, and for, all of you. My time here was profitable, and I have not a single bad word to say about LEAM, or "my" agents.

Rest assured I will remain active on the Internet, and will gladly promote Landstar from my moderator status at ExpeditersOnline.com Expedited Trucking Owner Operator Careers and Truck Sales

And I know where many of you are .. should we be rv'ing by,, we'll pop in and say hi!

Sigh ... the end of an era ...... Monty has no truck!

And best wishes to the new owner who is taking it to Bolt.

So, it looks like you'll still be spending time in Walmart and J parking lots, just in a different vehicle, right?

Congrats!! Enjoy your retirement.

Good Luck to you and the Mrs. I've tried to retire 3 times but can not get it to work for me. Hope it works for you. I'm getting close to #4.

So I'm guessing you sold your Sprinter.....Right? (Hahahahaha....)

You'll be back out there OTR doing something sooner or later.......it's in your blood. :)

What part eb, does not sound right? I have always been a big Landstar Express America fan ..... I'll just keep being one. The reason I included that in the letter was so the agents "might" keep track of me via the website ....

As a Member of the website I see no problem with advocating for the carrier of one's choice. In your note you specifically say you would use your "moderator status" for advocacy. As a Moderator advocating for a particular carrier I see it as a conflict of interest. Entire communities of people are breaking away from ExpeditersOnline.com because of rumors that such conflicts exist. Maybe this is something to be addressed in the Moderator's Code of Conduct.

I'd rather he be upfront than say he's unbiased when he is.
He's not selling snake oil here. He supports what he knows is a good thing.
How can this support hurt any of us ?

Congrats again. Modify the RV to carry one skid and earn your gas money as you go.

Congrats are in order but I am also thinking that it must be difficult to be without a truck or van to drive. This stuff gets in your blood and selling a truck does not change that. I hope your RV will allow you to scratch the itch so you don't miss your truck and the road too much.

I want to thank you, Monty, for the help and support you provided to Diane and me when we signed on with Landstar Express America one year ago. You helped make the transition easier.

Congratulations and good luck.Maybe now you can see the other parts of the U.S. that you didn't get to see before. And not worry about the deadhead. Like Zorry said you should modify the rv and carry one skid anyway.

I have been retired only ONCE ........ and it is final. (well, I might some putz around job here by the house .. something that only takes enough time to keep me out of my wife's hair!)

And I'm not hauling cheap freight ... even in an rv!

Thanks for the well wishes, y'all!
