Do you think people might be a little trigger happy when it comes to us truckers??

So my Doc prescribed a 24 hour heart monitor. We head out from the Doc and proceed to park in a large lot behind a restaurant where we are to meet my brother and his wife for dinner.
We arrived early so we took advantage of the extra time to place the heart monitor electrodes on my chest and get it started. I took of my shirt and Mrs. Humble helped put the stickies on. (can you see where this is going?)
Yep, a few minutes later a female police officer knocked on our door and said someone reported a couple having sex in our truck. :eek:She found it amusing when we explained.

Our friends were enjoying a meal in a restaurant when an upset woman entered and asked to use the phone to call the police. She stated that someone left a dog out in the heat, in a parked truck.
Our friends who are dog lovers agreed with her concern until it dawned on them that she was talking about their truck. They explained that the engine noise coming from their truck was a generator and that the dog was perfectly comfortable in a temperature controlled environment.

On yet another occasion Mrs. Humble and I treated ourselves to a room at Hampton Inn. Upon direction of the front desk clerk. We parked our truck around back where the pool area happens to be. A high school girls soccer team was staying at the Hotel as well. When we returned from dinner that evening the front desk clerk informed us that the head soccer mom complained that she did not feel comfortable letting the girls go out by the pool with that truck parked near by. WTF!!

I should note that we have a perfectly clean, well maintained FECC, WG T-Val truck and that my wife and I dress nicely.

Have any of these types of things happened to you? Please share.

So if you had been having sex in your truck, that would have been a problem?

When I was vanning, I stopped for some sleep in a shopping center in upstate NY. It was hot out, and gas hadn't yet become as ludicrous as it is now, so I idled and ran the AC as I slept. After a while, I woke up and shut her down and got out to take the world's prettiest dachshund

for a walk. While we were walking, a po-liceman rolled up in a hurry. Not a casual drive-up, but an "I GOT YOU!" drive-up. He found that my back and side windows were covered with reflective material, so he came around to the front and shone his flashlight inside. I have no idea how much of my sleeping area he could see, but he made quite a thorough inspection from the outside, I guess looking for bound children, or a meth lab, or a fertilizer bomb (hello, G-Man, nothing to see here) being made.
I considered speaking up from the sidewalk, but I was interested to see if he'd call me over and axe me if it was my van, who I was, etc., so I kept quiet. He just ignored me. He took down my plate and information from my decals, and probably pulled up my company's website. After a while, he departed on a search for donuts, or whatever cops do.
Then there was the time I posted about here before, when a genial deputy in Iowa jacked me up at the behest of the D.O.T., who found me suspicious. Apparently, the Iowa DOT has never heard of van expeditors before.

Ya ,Walmart in Boston. By the way, I thought we had the worlds prettiest Dixie. Anyways generator running in winter with heat in Walmart about 200 bucks worth of stuff in cart including perishable. We her over the intercom our truck description and come to service desk to meet a woman a cop and a mgr. Woman, why is dog freezing in your truck. Cop why are you idling. Mgr, we don't allow trucks. Well we all know what the answers were to these ?. Tina was still shopping so I went and got her left the cart in the isle in the store and left. Straightened out the lady and the cop on there misconceptions and proceeded to chastise both of them before we pulled out. Was amazed how well they took it. Although I really didn't give them much of a choice.

People are curious too about our rigs, I recently had a Indiana trooper pull up next to me while I was parked in a Meijer lot, I was nodding off taking a nap but I noticed him parked there, He evidently was using my truck as cover to catch speeders and did this most of the afternoon. I finally got out and asked him how many tickets he had written and he said 17....

He then asked me if he could look into my truck, at first I thought I dunno but he was a very nice guy, he was amazed at the room and the bed area, and all my electronices and radios, turns out he was a HAM operator and we had a long conversation about that....he was surprised you could stand and walk around inside the truck...

He asked where I was from and I told him I often stayed in this parking lot and he said he had seen me several times there. He said the store manager once had come outside and looked at my truck and about that time I had come rolling up with a shopping cart filled with goods. I never saw him but he and the officer were freinds and the manager had told him I was a good customer and not to bother me LOL !!!!!

This area is in Induianapolis and its a nice neighborhood, I made a wrong turn and discovered this place, Lots of restaurants in walking distance, Meijer, Home Depot and a large well lit lot and no hassles to park all night and sleep, even police protection LOL !!
