If you use PrePass

It seems that the PrePass sites are getting cameras installed at the first PrePass transceiver.

These cameras are so precise they can even see if you have on your seat belt. We always wear our seat belts so that isn't an issue for us. We recently had a camera similar to this on us at a dock and the guard told us later that he "sure wished he had one of those bagels with cream cheese" like we had for breakfast!

It is something to keep in mind if you ever sit in the passenger seat when your log says you are in the sleeper.

I cant imagine anyone sitting in the jump seat when they are supposed to be in the sleeper (*wink*wink*) but to counter this problem I installed a POI file in my garmin giving me audio and visual alerts 3.5 miles before I hit a weigh station. This way should the time come when I might find myself or my codriver in that seat none of us sit in it will be empty by the time a camera is peeking in on us. ;)

It used to be that, at least from the steering wheel down, you had a modicum of an expectation of privacy. Not any more, not with cameras looking down into your cab. I won't elaborate any further except to say that while the camera system is supposed to be for seatbelt violations, it's just a matter of time before something is spotted in a picture that is magically not there when you get pulled over, and the offer is gonna want it produced. Privacy issues are gonna come up, not to mention self-incrimination issues.

But, it's not just at PrePass scales. And it's gonna spread, count on it.
Peek-a-boo! I see you!

Eeeww...I don't like the thought of cameras that can see down in the truck. Does kinda seem like it invades your privacy a little. Not that we have much privacy in a truck anyway...lol. Thanks for the warning.

Guess I will be buying longer skirts and underwear.

Anybody ever drive a GMC Astro. Not much privacy in the cab of those.

All-states doesn't matter. The only one that matters is the one your vehicle is registered in. If it's legal in that state, it's legal everywhere.

Steve Is right on the tinted wisdows. Our one driver got a $370.00 ticket for the tint on the windows. The tint was removed after that.

From CFR 393.60
"(d) Coloring or tinting of windshields and windows. Coloring or tinting of windshields and the windows to the immediate right and left of the driver is allowed, provided the parallel luminous transmittance through the colored or tinted glazing is not less than 70 percent of the light at normal incidence in those portions of the windshield or windows which are marked as having a parallel luminous transmittance of not less than 70 percent. The transmittance restriction does not apply to other windows on the commercial motor vehicle."

Now you will have to be sure to wear your shell at all times, Mr. Turtle :p

Why must they make the English language so difficult???

Being a cargo van driver I was initially thinking like one when I said whatever is legal in the state the vehicle is registered in. That's true for non-commercial vehicles, but for commercial vehicles, 393.60 is the deal. If you have additional windows in the truck, they can be as dark as you like, though, but the windshield and the two side windows are limited to that 70%.

Does this mean 70% transmittance from the inside our
outside of the window?
