I know there are some miserable folk out there right now....

Ok members, think fast! What's the first word that comes to mind when I say " did you get a load?"

Now take a step back. Was your association a positive one? If so, by all means, share! On the other hand, if the word "Load" conjures up ghastly images or four letter words, read on for a little perspective.

I want to begin by pointing out the fact that there are tons of folks out there who'd love to be in your van — people who can't work because of illness or injury. To them, you're lucky to have this chance!
Now before you hang your head in shame — know that my intention here isn't to give you a guilt trip. It's just that sometimes, knowing that there are others out there who would jump at our opportunities, can remind us that that is exactly what they are — opportunities.
Keep a happy face on, better days ahead.....
Have an even greater day...:)

I would jump at the opportunity to be able to drive again. I want to get out of this house so bad but you can't drive on pain pills and I can't move around without them. It makes me very sad. Just be thankful that you guys are able to be out there on the open road and able to generate an income. Some of us would do anything to be able to get back into the game. Also don't get all philosophical on us OVM, I think you are suffering from nicotine withdrawals real bad. lol

I haven't hauled a load in a year because of leukemia and related problems. But I am in remission now and have sent out my resumes. Soon, if someone asks if I got a load, I will say YES, and it will be positive.

Well since the request was for a single word that word is profit. Without profit there's no reason to take a load. Next is thankful. Thankful for the ability to take and run loads. Then I thought of the soldier recently in the news, the one who just had double arm transplants because he lost all 4 of his limbs to a bomb. Anyway, more than asked for.

Ya, it's been a tough couple of weeks for freight. However, when one looks around and gets a feel for the overall scheme of things, it's a good place to be right now. I can think back on being unemployed and losing my last good job, due to lack of work.

Just today I watched a father/daughter team work the local Pilot for gas money. She would go to every car fueling, obviously asking for a buck or two. It's been discussed as to whether some of these "beggars" need a swift kick in the rear....or are in desperate need of anything to sustain. Just as I determined the latter, someone gave them a few bucks, they put a splash in the tank and split a hotdog. Folks who want to work cannot find a job, and if you ever made A mistake in your past? Good luck finding one.

I agree. We should count our blessings and hold the line. Much worse out there.
