If you have to log...

One of the most aggravating things, IMO, is having to write the carrier's name & address on every sheet. So I wrote that & my truck number on a white log page, took it to Qwik Copy, and got 100 sets printed. The white sheet is a carbonless copy paper, and the yellow sheet is plain paper. It took 10 minutes, and cost $12 - less than the truckstop price of $5 for a 30 day carbonless log!
The only possible drawback, is if the white sheet has to be printed in the red ink that is required for computer scanning - I don't know if they can do that. (Is the red a special ink, or just red?)
No more writer's cramp!;)

Cheri,
Maybe a rubber stamp would also help, you would be surprised what they can put on a stamp today.

I thought about a rubber stamp, but if Kwik Copy will print it for less than the cost of plain logs, I'll let them.
I am going to get a rubber stamp for the weekly envelopes, though, because writing is about the only thing that reminds me that I have carpal tunnel.
(Well, that & the fact that I drop things a lot... :+ )

Problems will be solved when we go the european way - truck generated logs listing everything from speed, stops, hours and even Company and driver.

Obviously Cheri hasn't had to fill out the new Canadian Vehicle Inspection Reports that require name and address of carrier , location of inspection , license plate number of truck (and trailer if semi )whether pre or post trip , and more .

Only writing I have to do on my logs is my signature. I use DDL www.DriversDailyLog.com on my laptop. It is not automated like Werner or Panther, works just like a paper log. Print out 2 copies at the end of the day and everything is where it needs to be. Just sign and put one in tripak, the other kept for 7 days for DOT. Much easier, and well worth the money.

I have a question about QC logs. During the double nickle years I logged at 52-53 mph. After states changed speed limits I would still log a couple of mph's under the limit. That meant logging states like Illinois at 52 mph even though I ran 65 mph.

How do you run a 55mph state. I am not sure how the QC log system works, but I doubt there is a provision for creative logging. I can't recall seeing any trucks running outstate freeways or tollways at 55 mph unless they had a blown engine.
