Iced in!

Yep.. anyone coming thru the Indiana/Ohio area will see white stuff..

We're pretty much stuck at home... not much snow here.. but a layer of ice on everything. Now, wierd thing is, my brother lives just a few miles a way, and he's got 3 foot snow drifts. It was a very sharp line between ice/rain storm and 'feet' of snow. There are trees and electrical lines down all over from the weight of the ice.

I snapped this pic of a neighbor's tree.. yes that's ICE on those branches.. not snow!

Hope everyone on here, that live's in the area, is safe... we've got thousands without power. Ours was only out for a little while, wife was prayin! Supposed to get 10 below here Christmas Eve I guess!

Well.. the kids WANTED a White Christmas!!!! (but.. the cable is out so they're going nuts..LOL)

My new neighbor is a weatherman at The Fort Wayne Airport.As late as wed evening he and every other forcaster had it wrong,as to the track and intensity of the siorm.I havent seen him since the storm.He`s ethier in hiding,or burried in a snow drift somewhere.

newport news va 42 degree's out wondering when do i cut the grass
monday we had half inch of snow and everything was closing down
always makes me laugh as people here in va don't know how to drive
when it is nice out

Big Fun yesterday! Sometime in the very early a.m. a set of doubles jack-knifed at the junction of I-70 and I-75 in Dayton.

I left Cleveland for St.Louis at 3:30a.m., at 7:30a.m. I arrived at the TA in London, OH (yeah, 4 hours to go 120 odd miles). After fueling up I headed West on I-70, at 9:11 a.m. I came to a halt just West of Springfield, OH. at exit 48. This was the traffic jam from the doubles upset! By the time things started moving again, the boss had called telling me to come back to the house as there would be no-one to accept the load in St.Louis, it was 4:00p.m. As they had opened I-675 South, I was able to get Eastbound on I-70. It was stunning, the backup extended over 10 miles East of Springfield!!!

I sure hope that this storm was the worst that the season has in store!! But then again, I should know better.

I was in ME Monday and spent part of Monday and Tuesday visiting family in MA before heading back to Western KY . I was driving in rain as I entered eastern KY on I-64 . I called my wife who was on her city letter carrier route and she told me she was tired from trudging through all the snow . The WHAT ??? I hit snow about a half hour later and sat 45 minutes waiting as a wrecker pulled a Werner truck that had the trailer slide into the median . The next 140 miles on I-64 took 4 hours but at least I made it . Some motorists were stranded over a day and a half before being rescued by the National Guard . Three days after the storm many side streets in Owensboro KY have been unplowed and city workers called it quits for the weekend . ( They also shut the plows down during the storm after working 16 hours to go home and rest up for the next day . ) Avoid loads to KY and IN for days after anything more than a few inches of snow . They know nothing about snow removal in those states .

Warren OH 4:30pm Wed snow just began falling Transfere to be PU in Toledo figured Ohio had great snow removal exp. Was right traffic moved at about 50mph was actually an enjoyable trip no trucks in the ditches only wreckless cars and of course most them were SUVs. Laid over in Toledo woke up at 330 am transfere load was there not gona leave until 5 am for hours to come back. Snow was really pilling up was not suppost to be this bad here. Drove to the bridge took 2 hours now 12 inches at least no plows and winds were very high felt confident it would let up in Canada remembrer this was darting East and Lansing MI had no snow. Wrong, now the first pile up Bob Tail spun out another truck hit head on both into the median than another truck plowed into them with still another. No cars on the road just trucks, yeah the bob tail needed an ambulance winds now at about 40mph 60km according to canadian radio. Made it past before they shut down the 401 took 8 hours to get to Kitchner I was the only delivery that day and this place was big. DH back to find they completly closed the 40l between London and Chatam put us on Canada country goat road 3 25 mph for five hours now my hours were running out and they would not let you stop police at every cross road to keep us moving. Finially made it to Detroit at 730pm exhausted, truck stops were full of snow all through canada with warnings not to go in trucks were stuck on every exit and entrance same with exiting the x-way was very concerned I was not gona make it offf the xway as trucks were stuck on almost every single one.
Snow totals seeemed to be about 20 inches but the winds made it impossible and when it stopped snowing the winds increased. Very greatfull I was not one the trucks in the ditch as the wind at one point put me and the truck behind me side ways I knew I was going into it but she straightened back out. Guy behind me was also lucky but he passed me anyway we both talked for alittle bit over the cb.

Wanted to stop but the cb warned not to said that is why the police were at all of the cross roads. I was absolutly shocked at Columbus OH they really got it bad ice. Counted over ten caravans of electrical trucks heading that way. Low Xmas eve was 6 below please pray for all of those people there xmas was either great or miserable no inbetween for those people. Roads were terrible but all turned out well learned alot and made it home safe and even stoped in VA and got the truck washed.
