I am not surprised by any of this. Makes you realize how much of these shows is manipulated to be the way that the producers want them to be.

It is strange that the people that star in these shows don't mind all the lies and deceit, they just want their 15 minutes. It is good to see him stand up for the truth.

agreed, I like watching the show, BUT, I always roll my eyes at the antics of the "polar bear" Speeding on a rough road (trail) and laughing heartily, while blowing His air horn.

I've often wondered about their compensation, apparently..not much ! like you said, 15 minutes..and thats it. Cheap to produce and popular with the advertisers, probably a high profit margin.

I read his article or one that was written for him a few months back and wondered what was wrong with him.

It seems to have national exposure like that, he could have taken advantage of it to do some good but understanding the frustration of it, and seeing the same production company put together a pretty good behind the scenes look at it, I wonder about this -

See to me he should have stood up at the beginning and said no, not speak the "truth" after the fact. Makes him look like part of the problem to me.

By the way, anyone ever wonder about this - it is the history channel, not the sensational channel. Since they offloaded some of their programming to other channels, it has become boring.

All the reality shows are just like wrestling. Why does anybody watch these crazy things. So put on, but "WE" do.

Dave was the biggest jerk they had on the series...a cry baby and whiner on every episode....till the fired his butt....LOL

He so reminded me of one of the cowboys we encounter out on the roads....doing 65 on icy, slick roads...all bragging "I;ve driven for 15 years"....

Seems he drove for Landstar til his BOC got tired of his antics when you watch video 1 and 2.

He does seem quiet full of himself. Sounds like the land-star load was oversize permitted and could not be done in the expected amount of time.

Had the driver been someone less full of himself this might have been conveyed to the dispatcher before the load was accepted and it could have been addressed.

Dave showed his real self when he pulled out "log book number 2" to get there "on time"

I made it about 2/3 of the way through the link above. All I was hearing was a truck driver telling about his bad day. I can hear that at any truckstop counter in the country. He had barely mentioned the IRT show at that point. Soooo... I clicked the "x"... top, right corner.

Does anybody remember the National Geographic special that spawned the IRT show? There was no feigned drama, no competition and no outrageous personalities. It was more a documentary about trucking supplies to the mines in the Northwest Territories when the lakes froze. I found it fascinating.

Some years later the Ice Road Truckers show debuted. I think a couple of the drivers from the N.G. special were featured on the first few IRT shows. I watched some of the shows from the first two seasons and then lost interest, just another contrived reality show. I happened to catch part of a show this past December during an IRT marathon. The show belongs on the bottom of a lake with the fishies.
