I80 transponder discount ending

June 1st the transponder discount for cars and motorcycles will end on the Indiana toll road. It will more than double the cost for those who use electronic tolling up to about $10.50 if traveled end to end. As far as I've read nothing will change for 3 or more axle vehicles at this time.

Looks like I will be traveling a different route or make sure I get enough in the load to cover the increased rates.

Aren't your tolls paid if you choose to turn them in? It's less than a six dollar increase, I use the toll road.

it just another $6.00 gone from income...more miles to be run to make it back...I am pretty sure at today,s rates most people have bottomed out their deductions to 0....every year I've done this as a solo , my book keeper has 0'ed me out on GAI. And deductions not used...
this biz just keeps chipping away at the income...isn't life grand?....:)

Only 2 carriers I know of that pay tolls...:pokepoke: one has pretty much forced dispatch ;)
and the other takes it back thru time wasting, redundant policies....IMO

Panther used to pay for tolls upon receiving proper receipts from drivers. Now the tolls are automatically added to the load pay, some of the time. If you accept a load offer directly via the QC (without talking directly with dispatch) chances are you will not be paid for tolls. You must ask for toll pay.

Panther still doesn't or won't recognize the new I-65 toll bridge over the Ohio River. I'm sure they won't deal with the I-80 toll increase for a year or longer.

But its your transponder that is losing the discount. Now you will pay the same toll as other 4 wheelers that don't have transponders. I'm sure Illinois will eventually drop their transponder discount. Once a tollway system reaches a certain number of transponder subscribers and enough toll collection employees can be eliminated, the discount incentive can also be eliminated.
