TRAFFIC ALERT: I-75 SB is closed just before the Tennessee line due to a massive rock slide in TN. Could be closed several days. Detours for I-75 SB traffic: take Jellico exit 160 to TN 297 to TN 63 and re-enter I-75 at exit 141 (Caryville). Wide load vehicles will need to detour at Exit 29 in KY to US 25 E and take the Cumberland Gap Tunnel into TN. Detour is approx 26 miles.

There was another rock slide at the 141.5 in TN also. Could have been those big "worms" from the movie "Tremors".

Yep I hit that last night on I75 northbound coming out of Tennessee. Had to take exit 134 to US25W, small curvy two lane road with probably several dozen if not hundred tractors on it plus the all the 4 wheel traffic. To get from Clinton Tennessee to jelico took me just under 3 hours. Also no cell service

Xiggi, that link says the erosion is from March 8. And the photo is dated 2012.
Is the current rockslide in the same place ?

when you look at the detour map it looks to be actually shorter cutting off the corner....

The initial estimate of "Monday afternoon" was quickly revised to "several weeks," and then to the really odd prediction of "4:30 p.m. March 21."

Now it's a much more realistic "until further notice."

If you zoom in a notch you'll see the southbound detour on 297 isn't quite so bad.

we were compensated for the I-40 landslide....used I-26 for routing purposes....at least my last carrier did anyhow...

If I were coming over on I-40 from Asheville heading up I-75 I'd be very tempted to use the wide-load routing and head up I-81 to Morristown and take 25E all the way up to Corbin.
