I65 Gary to Indy, terrible roads in exchange for cheap fuel?!

Saw TT drivers changing lanes yesterday just to avoid the bumps potholes in the road... (they seem to know exactly where they are) seems unsafe, does Indiana have any plans to fix the roads or is it a Louisiana kinda state? One thing I do like and have notice Indiana is the place to top off.

I go to KY from Chicago a lot, and I know what you mean.

I65 SB to Indy left lane is your best bet.

I65 was like that as long as I could remember

Gas was much cheaper 2/3 years ago, till they raised their taxes

So you vans don't have to deal with IFTA fuel tax? Yes, there are even some places between Indy and Louisville where you want to be in the left lane... Some of these states use fuel tax money for nonsense instead of the roads as should be. I have even noticed here lately TN interstates are getting rough in places. TN used to always rank at the top in driver surveys years ago for "best highways" - that trip a couple of weeks ago thru Knoxville up into KY on 75 rattled my teeth on a few stretches.. reminded me of AR years ago.... ..I guess fuel tax money here is going to pet projects anymore... It's like these owners who clear $3 or $4K a week after fuel and then go play with all that money - then ask the company to front them money for repairs when the truck breaks..

I don't see where Indiana is cheap?.....Maybe for us vans that "illegally" fill up at the tax exempt pumps it is.....pump price with tax is more expensive than Michigan...

I got curious so I looked it up. Nope, those of us who drive vans don't play with IFTA. According to the lies I read, IFTA applies to vehicles having two axles that weigh more than 26,000 lbs(!) or any commercial vehicle having three axles or more regardless of weight, or combination vehicles in excess of 26,000 lbs. There is no possible way to make my van weigh 26,000 lbs even if my ex-wife wants to ride.

Every gasoline pump I've ever seen states "all taxes included" on the pump so presumably we're not getting away with not paying taxes on gas. We're just not filing quarterly reports to do it.

Quickie thought: 26,000 lbs on a two-axle truck must be putting killer weights on those axles. I guess you can get by with it, but still----.

I think we should all get together and sue the states that don't use the road tax money for roads. I want my money back.
