I picked up the new Expedite Now Magazine this morning and this got me to thinking of how much I miss Jeff.

He often had some really great get to know a driver articles that were very interesting.

Jeff also had interesting article where he talked to many drivers about their opinions of a product or just how they did a certain thing.

He also has some pretty good tongue and cheek posts.

It has been great to see Jeff at the Expedite Expo each year but I sure wish he was still contributing to the forums and to the magazine.

Yes, Jeff did a great job and was a lot of fun to visit with. His regular updates on companies was another interesting feature to keep up with. I too wish him well and look forward to seeing him at the next expo.

Miss his works here as well. Truly a gifted writer that has given so much to the expediting industry. Really enjoy the many conversations we had on so many topics.

I would like to see more of the personal driver interviews back in the magazine. I always enjoyed reading about the drivers and how they got into expediting and what they have done.

i to miss jeff and spending time w/him and his daughter at the last expo was great. he use to call all the time for imput on articles and i enjoyed contributing. i would p/u the phone and say hello and would be greated with, hey man, this is jeff. hows it goin, have ya got a few minutes. always knew right away who it was from the greeting to his peticular voice. what a great guy and writer. the phone has not rang once since he stepped down. hope to see him next year. he always asked about our daughter and her music once he found out that was her major. something they had in common, jeff was an old band hippy himself and was always interested.

TNT I think you hit on the key, Jeff always was interested when he called on what you were doing, how you were doing, where you were at in the country and what you had to say. I also really enjoyed hearing his cheery voice on the phone.

Linda,

The editor's job is yours if you want it and Lawrence is willing to give it to you. My agreed-upon time in the job ends tomorrow.

I miss Jeff Jensen too. He was a great editor and great friend to the expediting industry. When I took his place, it was not because I was seeking the job. It was because Jeff's health had deteriorated to the point of no longer being able to work. Lawrence asked me to fill in for a time and I agreed. I subsequently agreed to serve through 2009.

Jeff did a far better job than I could ever hope to do because he had the luxury of time and experience. Jeff worked out of an office and had done so for years. He invested untold hours in the job by talking endlessly with expediters and others involved in the industry. I have never before been an editor and did what Expedite NOW work I could while also working full time on the road as an expediter.

Having fulfilled my promise to Lawrence, the time has come for me to move on to other interests. Going into 2010, Diane and I will continue to work full-time as expediters as I continue to develop my trading skills.

Dang Phil calm down, I don't think anyone was discussing your work. Just remember that everybody has their own style. That is why I can read a book about the same subject from two different authors, and enjoy one more than the other. I for one saw nothing wrong with your articles while you were standing in for Jeff. I have long thought that you are an enjoyable read.

I hear what you are saying, jaminjim, and thank you. The only emotion behind my post is anger at myself for spreading myself too thin. I don't make New Year's resolutions but if I did, one of them would be to do less in 2010, not more.

Well for what's its worth, Phil must have done a good job because keep hearing compliments from different places all the time about everything he has done so far except the planning articles.

As far as someone else taking over, I would rather see someone who is not on the road if Phil doesn't choose to continue.

Oh I like the plug for his trading adventures - thanks Phil, that has some of us thinking about it.

Jeff was a one of a kind writer who many of us enjoyed and his articles are missed.

You Phil have a different writing style which is enjoyable to read. You say you are not going to continue to be the editor in 2010 and you will also be missed.

There was no slam intended with the post, nor do I want or am I qualified to handle the job you and Jeff did so eloquently.

Jim you would have some pretty big shoes to follow in and your beginning to say the least is a little shaky ...

The job has had two very capable writers in a row. I do not envy the next in line. Thanks to those who have done it and good luck to whoever takes it on. Hopefully both Jeff and Phil will be available as resources to whoever it is.

My wife is a great writer and knows the business. I have tried to get her to send things to Lawrence so he can see her work but she has had alot on her plate the last few years. Maybe now that she has more time she can help out if Lawrence needs someone to feel in. Who ever does it they have to be able to make it to the Expo each year.
