:mad:I can't take it anymore.

LOSE is the opposite of win or gain.
LOOSE is the opposite of tight.
Why can't you get that right? Why? Why? Why?

And while I'm at it, it's THEIR, not THIER, and you use the article "an" when the next word starts with a vowel OR A VOWEL SOUND, as in, "AN mp3 file."

Their, they're, there. They're different words. Learn the difference.

Plurals don't get an apostrophe. There are too many cars on the road, not too many car's.

They, them, their. Those are plural and not to be used when referring to a singular subject.

I wish I could master the difference between then and than. Even with my notes I get this wrong constantly.

I am working on getting my or and are right and I feel I am getting better with a few slip ups.

The problem is I do not say those words correctly and as the result I use them incorrectly in a sentence.

I was one of those students that thought school and in particular English, Science, Math and any subject beside PE was a total waste of time. Now I am paying the price for my stupidity when I thought I knew everything.... To be that young and ignorant again as the older I get the dumber I seem to be getting.

I run around in total ignorance till someone points out the error of my ways which is usually in the form of a PM or a conversation. I appreciate the fact I am not usually blasted on the forums for my indiscretions, but am told on the side of my mistakes.

I have learned a LOT by posting and having friends nice enough to not snicker at my ignorance, but to try and educate me on how to get my thoughts across. I do not desire to be an English major, but I am continuing to strive for improvement.

Then - time

Than - comparison

Then you put the eggs in the cold water to stop them from cooking.

There are fifty four hard boiled eggs are in the fridge which are better than fifty four rotten eggs so don't eat them all.

I like its and it's.

It's a bad day at black rock - translated IT IS a bad day at black rock.

Black rock has its days.

Oh here's (not hears), one........

"Where are you AT"
Instead of "Where are you"?

"Boy you just got the Motherlode"

However, he drives for Load-1 not Lode-1

I have that wonderful habit and Bob has been working very hard to correct it.

Where are you? just does not seem as if I am ending the sentence correctly. I believe I will get this problem mastered rather quickly.

My dad used to say,"too soon old,too late smart."

I remember when all the guys who took typing were sissies. Now, with all the personal computers and all the typing required to use them, well, you can draw your own conclusions.

Well, I have the same problem. When ask now "where you at" I just say "I'm between the A and the T"

It's a forum, sharing and learning is the idea behind it and as long as a person gets their point across I'm good with it.

As long as we're airing our grammatical peeves, the most annoying to me is improper use of personal and reflexive pronouns.

"I" is a subject while "me" is an object. It most often gets confused when the object is a compound, as in "my wife and I." Ex: "They gave the load to my wife and I." Wrong. "They gave the load to me and my wife." You wouldn't say "they gave the load to I," so you shouldn't use "I" in the compound either. You would say "I bought a new truck," so you should also say "My wife and I bought a new truck."

Reflexive pronouns end in "self" or "selves." "Myself, himself, themselves," etc. are typical. A reflexive pronoun is one where the subject is the recipient of the action. "I gave myself a bruise." "He hit himself on the shin with the hammer." Reflexives are never the subject, though again I see this mistake made frequently in compound form, as in "My wife and myself went to the movies." Again in this case the correct pronoun is "I:" "My wife and I went to the movies."

These things are often used because somehow they sound "more proper." They are not.

Are we all board,or is it bored?I know what it is,do you?I've been out of school for almost 50 years.I drive a truck for a living, not write an editorial in a newspaper,or in this case a forum.Does it really matter if the guy is a looser or he is just loose? For most people, you can write a sentence and leave out the vowels,or even misspell the words and still be able to read the sentence. My truck is in the shop getting motor work done, and yes I am bored.Only thing good,I don't have to drive in this lousy weather.

One load on truck is better "than" two loads on dock! Say Confucious!

If my truck gets loaded today "then" i'll finally be able to get something to eat off the 40% advance money!

You just illustrated my biggest one. Person is singular and their is plural. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I say Team Caffee your far from ignorant and probably (in my opinion) one of the most educated teams out here. I enjoy reading all your posts and get good ideas from some of them also.
I can't for the life of me since moving south though can figure out why Windows are Whinders or them their or you all or ya'll. Of course when I was raised up in Chicago's near north side I could not figure out why we said You's guy's all the time. But I Reckon (oh there's another one) we will all get thru(??) it too (to).:D
