I beat the system...twice.

Yesterday I bought gas for my car. Used my supermarket courtesy card and got three cents off a gallon. Used a coupon I got at the supermarket for ten cents a gallon discount. That brought my gas to two bucks a gallon. Isn't that pathetice that I am excited about ONLY two bucks a gallon gas? Here's the biggie. Went to the BMV to renew my Indiana CDL and my Hazmat. Because I renewed my Hazmat BEFORE May 31, I did not have to be fingerprinted, and best of all, it did not cost me a hundred bucks. The key word is May 31. Starting June 1, Hazmat renewals will have to be fingerprinted and charged a hundred bucks. Thought I would pass that info along.

The two primary supermarket chains at home use the loyalty cards or keyring tags whichever you prefer. They both give fuel discount bonuses for $100 of purchases. One doubles the 3 cents to 6 and the other goes from 3 cents to 10 cents. It's good just the one time after you reach the purchase level so if you go in to top off at the wrong time it can blow your discount opportunity. I think they count on that happening some of the time.

I got gas last Sunday, using the card from Kroger, for $1.94/gal. Thank God I've got two boys who eat like there's no tomorrow! :D

Remember back in the day, when gas was $1.65/gal! WOW, if only...

I wish my local grocery store ( Wyndall's - Owensboro , KY ) sold diesel . When my wife's Durango gets to about 1/4 tank I head to Wyndall's . They have items marked with anywhere from 2 - 10 cents discount on gas . Actually , you could grab 20 items with a 10 cent discount and get a $2 discount off the price of gas at their pumps up to 15 gallons . They have 2 stores wilth pumps off the 60 bypass - one on 54 east and the other on New Hartford Road North ( old 231 North before the new 231 bridge was built )
