We sure are glad to see that we longer will have to take the reroute it was a long one on many two lane roads. We were not looking forward to this route during winter.
OOIDA’s Land line: I-29 reopened in southwest Iowa
Interstate 29 in southwest Iowa is open again after being closed nearly four months due to flooding. While the interstate is open in the region, some exits and connecting roadways remain closed for continued inspections and repairs.
The Iowa Department of Transportation reopened I-29 from the Missouri border to U.S. 34 at Exit 32 near Pacific Junction on Saturday, Oct. 8. The Pacific Junction exit has been reopened as well following a bridge repair on U.S. 34.
Drivers can expect crossover lanes and two-way traffic at mileposts 0.8 northbound and 3.2 southbound near Hamburg until bridge construction is completed, according to the DOT.
A rainy spring in the Missouri River basin caused the river to leave its banks in numerous places in mid-June.
I-29 exits 1 and 10 remain closed as repairs continue on Iowa Route 333 into Hamburg and Iowa Route 2 into Nebraska City.
The reconstruction of I-680 in Council Bluffs continues, and the DOT reports that favorable fall weather has kept a number of reconstruction projects moving along.
