Are there any units being sent to LA Or MS for relief from the hurricane/ I would like to know what types of units are being sent down there? What about the availabilty of fuel down there for relief efforts. Would hate to get down there any not be able to have the fuel to operate or be able to get out of there. Any info would be helpful

I did not see any vans down there.C-D-E are all being used.In fact the director of Health Services for La. said he was going to try to have our truck for their exclusive use,for 4 months, but nothing ever came of it.

We are in New Orleans now. Stopped at Pilot on I65 Satsuma AL going west Pilot only open from 7:00 a.m. to I believe 7:00 at night. Fuel unlimeted at 2.749. After that stop going into Mississippi and Louisiana you can get fuel but the lines are very very long. We had to stay on I10 to I12 then to I55 going south to get into the city after that the police will direct you. We have had no problem except to find contacts. You are pretty much on your own to find your contact. Lots and Lots of trucks down here.

We've made five deliveries into the Katrina area in a D-unit. One run was computers and office equipment for an insurance company. Another four-stop run took us through the entire distance of the affected area. That was equipment for industrial sites throughout the area.

Fuel has not been a problem. We can go over 2,000 miles with full tanks. We filled up before entering the area. Though, in the area we've found a few diesel locations open. As I write this, we're at a Pilot near Baton Rouge. Fuel has been available as at any other truck stop. Price now is $2.799.

We've seen a number of other FedEx Custom Critical D and E units passing by. No opportunity to talk with them and compare notes.

There are staging areas in Memphis, TN and Jackson,MS for loads to the effected area. They are telling drivers to fill at these locations prior to traveling south of I20. Fuel as of yesterday is free at the FEMA locations if you have a designated FEMA load.

Not sure on the MS and AL FEMA locations?
