If they have been "flaking" in PA for over 100 years, why haven't they been pumping natural gas from supposedly one of the worlds largest supplies. Under the city of Pittsburgh!
There is a huge BOOM in PA right now, going after those gas deposits. They are having problems finding skilled labor there now. Those deposits cover a lot of land in PA. Remember that the world's first commercial oil well was drilled in Titusville, PA. They started "fracking" those wells back then. Edwin Drake drilled it.
On a side note. Imagine, if you can, what history might have looked like if the wells that John Wilkes Booth invested in during that first oil boom had come in instead of coming up dry.
By the way, they called it "shooting a well" back then.
