Wasn't sure whether to post this here or advice for newbies.. LOL.

How to impress a major client for your carrier...

Do not wash truck.
Keep at least 2 weeks worth of wrappers on dash.
Pile passenger seat to window level with more trash, cups, bottles, newpapers etc.
Place 2 cats on top of dash to hold everything down.
Strategically place pop bottles and cans so they crash to the ground and roll across parking lot when you open door.
Park up wind so wonderful smell of cat feces envelopes dock area.
Wear your dirtiest pair of sweats along with stained t-shirt.
Make sure to not have showered recently so your own BO will cover the cat smell.

You too can be a perfessional.

OH I wish this was ALL a joke....

I know that guy. Well, have run across his path on three occasions
(and I vividly remember all three). Unless something has changed,
there are at least two more cats back in there somewhere.

Wow. I only saw 2.. LOL.

(sorry bout the big pic, I forgot photobucket doesn't show full size in preview pane :) )

I guess this could go along with the 'pets in expediting' threads.. but I wonder how you could get away with that with 'smell sensitive' loads. For example, I hauled 2 skids of food grade plastic film' the other day.. and it had all over the paperwork that there could be no animals, strong smells in same box, ie oily loads, etc.

As a customer I would not be to excited about putting my freight into that van.

You wash your truck?

I thought the rain showers took care of the dirties.

I had some folks in my truck during Expo 2008 and they asked me if I ever drove it because it was so clean.

Just last week I had a shipper who said, "That is the nicest truck I have even seen."

I just like riding in a clean and organized truck. I wasn't looking for the kudos; it just makes the job easier. IMHO

not to mention the great looking spray paint covering the old company signs and truck # on the doors, I'll tell ya before expediting I was in the home improvement business for 20 yrs and I have been in some pretty bad homes before, it is just amazing how some can live the way they do. To not have much is one thing but to live in filth is whole nother story

Actually, to be fair, that was my addition to the pic, in deference to the company he's leased to..

Well, I have to do a quote because someone who shall remain nameless  put in a picture so large it overflows the right margin so I can't get to the quick reply button. If I were a customer I'd turn him away and call the company to ask what they're doing sending a rolling cat latrine to my business.

Wow!! And I have been embarrassed when I have had to make an early morning dash to the shipper and my bunk covers weren't tucked in. I remember sending a message to the dispatcher one time that the shipper was impressed that I didn't have any goats or chickens in my truck. I think there was a problem with a previous truck. Could have been this guy. I have gotten my share of compliments on my van, inside and out.
