Why work for someone if you have your own authority? Having your own authority allows you to haul any carrier, forwarder, broker or shipper load that you like. BTW, log books are an even bigger issue when you have your own authority.
Oh yeah, you would need to drive a minimum of 91 miles an hour to do 1000 miles in an 11 hour shift. That doesn't even allow for loading and unloading.

I do not have authority yet,but thinking to get one...Com on guys,You never did 2000 ml ld direct(solo)? with expierence ,we can do it much safe,when some grenpaa 10 ml(even, if you do your dual logs on steer-wheel).

Well, you could have common AND contract authority. I really don't know a reason to these days. Having common requires you to file your cargo ins. w/ FMCSA. Contract does not. You could also have broker and forwarding authority, but really it's you or your company with the authority anyhoo, and not the actual truck.

I did 2500 miles from Chattanooga,TN. to Madras,OR. in 56 hours that included two breaks of 8 hours for sleep,that equals 62.5 mph in a cargo van...wheww was I whipped...

Headed towards Los Angeles,stopped in Corning,CA. Thursday afternoon and left towards LA. on Friday morning.Got almost to Bakersfield and got a load out of Tehacapi,CA. about 30 miles away at the GE Wind Energy Plant going to Sault Ste. Marie,ON. Canada

Nightcreacher, Yes a truck can be run under two authorities. I am leased to a company and run under their authority most of the time. I also have my own authority and run under it.
I only carry door signs or logos on my truck and that contains company name, DOT number and MC number as well as location. I have my authority name and numbers on magnetic signs which I place over my lease company when I do something on my own.
It is not all that easy as I have two sets of books(permits) in my truck, I carry all of my own insurance as well this is required. They carry load insurance on me which covers them and me when running for them and then my coverage picks up auto or bobtail. When under my authority I have everything. So I am in reality over insured.
Everything must be kept seperate. I also use OOIDA for my drug testing program for my business and I have to be tested under the other company as well. So I pee alot.
In any case it can be done and I am not the lone ranger. I have only one set of hours so I have to priority on the company freight because I am a dedicated truck for them but I do pick short runs up here and there. This approach has worked very well for me.
