How times have changed

In 2010 I will have been in this business for 15 years, but not as long as DaveKc, Steve Gilbert, Limda and Dave , Terry and Rene, Harold, Leader and many other great people. It got me thinking of how much this business has changed in almost 15 years.

Roberts Express which was the biggest carrier at the time which is now FedEx Custom Critical. TNT Olex is now TST Expedited Service's. Many new companies have popped up all over that I can't evem list them.

I was hoping to see if everyone could add things that have changed over the years.

The 1st thing that I can think of is. The rates have changed very much. Back in 1995 a full rate C load only paid $1.31 a mile with no FSC, but diesel was .89 a gallon too. Please add your thoughts.

Bruno Yes things have changed. This year marks my 13 year as a Expediter. today I was going thought some boxes and found the receipt from when i took my CDL road test. It cost me $100 bucks to take the test.

I also found a old joke that someone sent me and I thought I would put here just for fun It is called the new Truckstop.

Have you seen the new Truck Stop at Exit #48 on
I-85
In Georgia?
That"s Right, A Truck Stop Just for Expeditors!
No Big
Trucks...No
4-Wheelers...
It's called the Whinery Truck Stop. It's a full
Service Truck Stop Just For
us 6 Wheelers. Here's their one of a kind
Program:
They have spared no
expense to bring to you;
A recuitor from Robert's(or who ever they are
this
week)
A recuitor from Tri-State(was that bull in their
old
logo constapted or what?)
A recuitor from Panther(is that the same 2 headed
cat
that I saw at the fair
when I was six?)
A recuitor from LEA( do you get a cart with the
free
18 holes of golf when
you sign on?)
A recuitor from CTX( is it true to qualify, all
you
have to do is present a
mvr, even If it's not yours?)

They also offer free crying towels with a minimum
of
150 gallons of fuel!!

They have a on sight sign and logo shop who offer
3
changes per year with a
up-charge and an additional 10% off with the new
static stick signs.

All the 800 numbers needed to be an expeditor:

800 # for consumer credit counsiling- ext.oicu812
just
for 6 wheelers
800 # for Liars anonymous (just tell them you
have the
dispatcher syndrome)
800 # for discount truck parts (for the new seats
and
steering wheels we have
to buy since some of us have lost our asses and
don't
know where to turn)
800 # for Habitat for Humanity( for those who
loose
their homes, O yea tell
my old friend Jimmy, Hi)
800 # for GreyHound(for the drivers who find that
this
place looks like a
good place to jump ship and leave the truck)
800 # For Towing and Recovery( the O/O's answer
to the
above)

AIN'T EXPEDITING GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a dispatcher just offer me a load that paid
$3.20
per mile to the Truck
and was going 2,088 miles!!!!!!

Just my luck, she said I couldn't have it because
I'm
not a team, She needs a
24ft truck, mine's 22ft. The weight was 13,030
lbs, I
max out at 13,000., and
it picks up in fifteen minutes and I'm 300 Miles
away......;-)
