How many of B unit owners are using

something like a Grumman Kurbmaster or a GM P30 chassis truck or for that matter any delivery type vehicle?

I wondered about if anyone is using these types of trucks instead of a van.

Some I find have 16 feet of space behind the seats.

I have never seen one. Are they really designed for the long highway miles and speed of expediting? I'd never even thought of them for other than an urban/suburban delivery vehicle.

>I think I saw the Riddler driving a Grumman!

OK it took long enough (LOL), yes the Riddler said it while he was trying to kill Batman.

Leo,

I wondered about if it is only a local delivery vehicle, but thinking about it - can the city cycle driving be harder on a van than the highway driving we do?

I know some have a MT45 chassis (FL), E450 chassis (ford) or a P30 chassis (GM) which is all used in the motor home market too. The thing I thought was odd and never thought about it, a bunch of these have a cummins 4BT with an allison behind it which is a good combination for longevity.

I guess if they have the proper gear ratio for highway driving they'd work ok. I think they'd take a bad hit on mpg though, even with the right gearing, just because of the slab shape. I'm still thinking Kodiak/Aerocell is the way to go.

Leo,

I looked at the 4500 Kodiak and it has some great features!

My major objection would be the scale and log issues because the GVWR of the Kodiak exceeds the 10,000 lb limit.

I know we keep hearing that vans are being asked to scale, but I have yet to see any of the freight companies, except FEDEX, ask their van drivers to scale. Simple business logic would dictate their desire to have the expedited freight delivered on time and a cargo van being stopped for not scaling would impede that process.
