Feedback I think is always good.

We just sent a thank you email to several at FedEx Custom Critical who helped with the FCC breakfast and also for the nice fleece blankets we received. When we have won a gift card we are also quick to give thanks. We enjoy feedback on a job well done and we like share job well done with our company.

We do not send gifts just emails on our thoughts as a Thank You can go a long way.

I always thank the dispatcher on the phone who offers a decent load, and write a note of appreciation on payroll records turned in for any better-than-average weeks.
So far, that's as much as I can afford to do, sigh, but I agree that acknowledgment is a good habit to get into.

I send them a christmas and thank-you cards. I also call the dispatcher and CC personally to thank them when I know they've either gone out of their way to help one of my trucks in a situation or have gotten them a load (even if it was a discounted one) out of a bad area.
I feel that dispatchers and CC's have a thankless job most of the time. Drivers/owners constantly call with complaints & problems but how often do they get a call from someone who say "thank-you" or "a job well done" ?
I also tend to bring them a box of candy or some home made goodies when I have to be at headquarters.

We've never really had a reason to be anything but nice to dispatch and most of the time I end QC messages with a thank you and :)

At the end of an out period we send a QC thanking them for a success session and effort....ya know they ARE human to...and at times prolly feel pretty darned unappreciated for thier efforts

I used to drop off poverty packs of beer at dispatch where I used to work. One new dispatcher complained about the brand and wanted one with less alcohol in it (I did not buy the cheapest stuff). Even with doing this I know I wasn't the favorite broker as several others usually made more than I did.

I had a really good year a couple of years back. I went to Costco and spent about a hundred on various snack packages. They were totally surprised when I dropped them off.

Panther has a policy against giving any kind of a gift to a dispatcher. Reason being if you gave them any type of gift and happen to be running better than the next guy the other guy will say its because you bribed them. I have in the past emailed the CEO to tell them about a dispatcher that helped me out. Then it's uo to him to say something to the disptcher or not. And knowing full well that i am a pain in the rear at times i thank the person on the phone but thats it.

There might be a problem with giving gifts to dispatchers, but I think that giving a gift to the owner of your company is a wonderful idea and a practice I would whole heartedly recommend. Gift cards to steak houses and seafood restaurants are especially good ideas.

I will not send cards or buy gifts to anyone at the company, to me it is unethical. If my work depends on giving a gift to a dispatcher or manager, then it is not a company I want to be part of.

I do write letters of thanks or praise for work well done, even for forklift drivers who are careful loading my truck. The letter means more to someone than a gift they only see.

In the case of the forklift driver, she was new and didn't listen to her co-workers when they told her to rush to load my truck. These guys were banging into the walls of the other trucks, but she said it is my truck and she respects my property. I wrote a letter to the CEO of the company thanking him for hiring her and told him the story, she got a raise for her diligence and the last time I was there she got a promotion.
